Doing some clean-up as I get ready for the 8th gym and the Elite 4, looking for advice on a few things I've been delaying doing something about.

Here's what my team looks like right now. All are currently level 46, except Gengar, who is level 47.

Gengar: Timid, Cursed Body, Amulet Coin

  1. Shadow Ball

  2. Thunderbolt

  3. Hypnosis

  4. Nasty Plot

Mew: Modest, Synchronize, Shell Bell

  1. Psychic

  2. Ice Beam

  3. Giga Drain

  4. Nasty Plot

Torterra: Relaxed, Overgrow, Leftovers

  1. Wood Hammer

  2. Earthquake

  3. Leech Seed

  4. Curse

Machamp: Adamant, Guts, Metronome

  1. Revenge

  2. Bullet Punch

  3. Dual Chop

  4. Bulk Up

Gyarados: Adamant, Intimidate, Leftovers

  1. Waterfall

  2. Rain Dance

  3. Dragon Dance

  4. Ice Fang

Typhlosion: Timid, Blaze, Silk Scarf

  1. Flamethrower

  2. Sunny Day

  3. Solar Beam

  4. Swift

Or

Clefable: Bold, Magic Guard, Leftovers(?)

  1. Moonblast

  2. Ice Beam

  3. Charm

  4. Cosmic Power

The issues I'm debating are:

  1. Gengar: Are Hypnosis and Nasty Plot worth it? I'm happy with Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt, but with Nasty Plot, Gengar is not especially durable so I question whether it is worth risking him eating an attack to get a Nasty Plot off. And for Hypnosis, my plan was originally to swap it for Sludge Bomb, once I got it, since I needed Hypnosis to make the most of Hex. But Poison attacks have not been tremendously important for me. So should I replace either?

  2. Mew: Anything seem out of place? I want it to be a special attacker and I don't really have any issues with its moveset, but since Mew can learn literally anything, is three attacks and Nasty Plot the best use of its versatility?

  3. Machamp and Gyarados: I'm pretty content with Revenge as Machamp's fighting STAB. He's slow anyways so that makse sense. I like him having a priority move in Bullet Punch as well, and that's the purpose of the Metronome and he has Dual Chop for one, single reason: as a possible answer to Garchomp. Bulk Up is my one question mark. Cause I have the Earthquake TM sitting in my inventory and I feel like that's gotta go to someone. Gyarados is gonna swap Thrash for Ice Fang, but Rain Dance isn't really doing anything. So should I swap Machamp's Bulk Up or Gyarados's Rain Dance for Earthquake. And if I give Earthquake to Machamp, what should I swap Rain Dance for with Gyarados? Since Rain Dance is still not tremendously useful. His attack is already insane and one or two Dragon Dances are all the boost he really needs.

  4. The big question for me: With what the Elite 4 in Sinnoh looks like, is Clefable or Typhlosion gonna be more useful in the long run? Clefable could come in handy for Cynthia, but my plan was mostly for Torterra to Curse up a storm against Spirtomb who can't really hurt it, then just let Earthquake rip. Meanwhile Typhlosion was my plan to just burn down most of the bug guy's team. Without Typhlosion, I'm not quite sure what my plan is for the bugs, unless I give Clefable Flamethrower maybe? Or Rock Slide for Machamp?

  5. Also minor question: obviously Gengar's not gonna hold the Amulet Coin forever. Any suggestions for what he should actually use?

Anyone have a couple leftovers to trade?

I'm looking for leftovers for my team. I have an Impish, Steadfast Riolu and Modest, Rain Dish Squirtle to offer in return. Your pick of which you want if you can send one leftovers or if you have two, you can have em both. I'm not worried about what Pokemon you send over with the leftovers, I'm just looking for the items.

I've been wanting to start a new playthrough of Shining Pearl for a bit lately and I'm finally getting around to doing it. As I tend to whenever I start a new Pokemon playthrough, I'm planning out my team ahead of time. The problem is: I wanna use a Machamp and a Gengar, but I don't wanna deal with trading them. I've only ever had a Pokemon stolen during a trade once, and luckily nothing I couldn't replace, but I'd rather keep it to onlt one incident. So I had the idea, can I get aroind the trade evolution mechanic by, when the time comes, using Pokemon Home to send them to my Legends Arceus save, evolving them using the Link Cable item and then sending them back through Home? Can anyone tell me if that'd work? Also if there are any downsides to doing that?
