Found my 1st steel watch

Found my 1st steel watch

I was recently reconnected with one of my first watches. I got it in high school while overseas and I remember feeling like a baller wearing this bad boy! It's been sitting in a storage box in my parent's basement for the better part of 25 years...

I'm trying to figure out what may have caused the discoloration on the case, and whether it may be reversible. It's clean inside, bracelet shows no issues, and it still runs fine with a new battery. It was in a dry tote, that showed no signs of moisture or water intrusion.

Any suggestions on how to improve the look? Maybe a watchmaker can polish the spots out? I don't mind the nicks and dings on the case / bracelet as they add some character to the age of this watch, but I don't like the discoloration. Also planning to have the crystal polished to remove some of the scratches... thoughts?
