Escambia County Draft Resolution- AI Data Centers

We received the "resolution" that Escambia County plans to introduce on July 23rd at the County Commissioners Meeting.

They have completely disregarded what the citizens have asked for! We demand an ordinance be put in place to allow for proper time to study to allow for land use changes that will PREVENT AI Data Centers.

Call your commissioner and let them know this is insufficient!

Steve Stroberger Commissioner District 1 850-595-4910

Mike Kohler Commissioner District 2 850-595-4920

Lumon May, County Commissioner of District 3 850-595-4930

We have an amazing opportunity next week, Thursday, July 2nd at 6pm at Pensacola Liberation Center. Come hear from an American Institute of Certified Planners member(it's the national planning certification) on the zoning regulations around data centers and where they are headed! Great learning oppo

Escambia County Board of County Commissioners recommend ban for AI Data Centers

Let's review what happened at this week's Board of County Commissioners Meeting.

First, thank you to all of the community members that came out and stood up! We packed the hall. There were so many brave souls that spoke up, many for their first time at the podium.

We did not get too far into the speakers when Lumon May, County Commissioner of District 3 spoke up that he was not in support of data centers and was willing to call for a ban. Steve Stroberger Commissioner District 1 clarified his statements that he always wants to bring better jobs to our county but only jobs that are good for our county. He has done the research. The other two commissioners who were present, Mike Kohler Commissioner District 2 and Commissioner Ashlee Hofberger - Escambia County District 4 also signaled their support for a ban.

Even after this exchange, they patiently listened to the remainder of the speakers.

In the last 5 minutes of their regular meeting, they added our item to the next meetings.

We are not done. We will need to show up on both July 23rd when they go over the draft language of the ban and for the public hearing on August 6th. Add those dates to your calendar now.

This is a stark reminder that the people hold the power. We thank everyone who has been a part of this process and continue to be. We thank the commissioners for listening to their constituents. And while it is important to celebrate this win, we must continue. We need to help our neighbors achieve the same goal. We share a water shed.

Speak out against data center - County Commissioners meeting June 17th

We must show up NOW at Escambia County Board of County Commissioners meetings to stand up and speak up for Pensacola.

A data center company is actively negotiating with Escambia County officials about locating a facility here. According to reporting, county leadership has confirmed discussions are underway.

Data centers place enormous demands on local infrastructure. They can require significant amounts of electricity and water, rely on backup generators that contribute to air pollution, and create long-term impacts on surrounding communities.

If you are concerned about the future of our community, now is the time to get informed, get involved, and make your voice heard.

Join us at the next Escambia County Board of County Commissioners meeting:

📍221 Palafox Place, Pensacola, FL

📅June 17, 2026

🕠4:30 PM public forum

Decisions that shape Pensacola's future should be made with public input, not behind closed doors. Show up. Speak up. Be heard.
