What gpu to pick
I want to finally treat myself to a full rebuild instead of just swapping parts here and there. The very last thing to decide on is the gpu. I currently have an RTX 3070 Ti 8gb and I want to feel a massive performance jump and a real visual upgrade. At the same time my old twenty seven inch 1440p 240hz OLED is having brightness and burn in issues so I need to replace it. I found a 32in monitor that has every single spec I love including a built in KVM switch so I can easily swap between my gaming PC and my work Mac Studio which is a new addition to the setup. I already use a 32in screen at work and I was just given a 32in side monitor so my main should go up to 32 as well and matching sizes would look awesome since I am coming from 27,24. The catch is that this new monitor only comes in 4K like most of the options I found in this range. I cannot find any similar 1440p options so it looks like I am making the jump to 4K.
I do not play competitive games really at all mostly just story games where I heavily care about the visuals especially since I am getting an even better oled. As long as I hit a smooth sixty frames per second I am completely happy (more is better I guess lol). I am fine using dlss but will probably not use higher than 1 or 2x frame gen. That leaves me stuck choosing between a 5070 Ti for $980 and a 5080 for $1299 in my area. I can easily afford either outright or I can use a twelve month no interest financing option with my credit card since the monthly payments are not super different. Price is not really an issue but if I do not need the eighty class card I would obviously rather keep that extra three hundred twenty dollars in my pocket just in case.
