Let’s Make it Happen: Free World Cup Viewing Events in All 1M+ Pop. 🇨🇦 Cities
The World Cup is well under a month away and we still don’t have free tournament-long viewing events in all Canadian cities with a population of 1M+. I’m not just talking about the games Canada plays, I’m talking about all of them.
All we need to do is organize.
I am confident that we can still make this happen. There is not a doubt in my mind that people will be more than willing to volunteer, but we need to create the framework.
I had been wanting to start trying to make this happen months ago. I got caught up in how compliant the host countries have been with everything going on in the world right now.
Now that it is so close and that almost all tickets are sold, I want to make sure that our country makes the most of it.
This could be the highlight of the summer for so many Canadians. This is how we introduce new people to the beautiful game. This is how we make the most of the privilege of being one of 3 countries to host the biggest event in human history. This is how we come together.
I know there will be informal places to watch games, but they will cost money and be scattered. I know there’s this thing called “Canada Celebrates” apparently coming to 40+ Canadian communities, but it will only be in each for 1-2 days.
I am aware this goal may seem laughably ambitious, but I can’t just let things go the way they seem like they’re going to without at least trying to make some change.
We can make a group and start planning how we are going to make this happen. Any ideas on who to contact or how to go about this are greatly appreciated. We have to work together.
Who’s with me?!
