Got Another Reading Coming in February!

I can now openly announce that the Kansas City Public Theatre will be presenting a reading of my play Never is a Long Time on February 7! If you're in the area, check it out, check out the rest of the Theatre Lab season, and if you've got a full-length, submit it for the next season!

It's a play I've been working on for quite a few years (I wrote the first draft pre-pandemic when it was meant as a long one-act) so I'm really excited to be sharing it with an audience.

First Round at B&N

  1. West Indies, probably?
  2. I’d been wanting Chronicle of the Years of Fire to be properly available for quite some time.
  3. West Indies and the WCP set; the former because it just sounds fascinating and the latter because Chronicle and Fall of Otrar sound right up my alley.
  4. I’d love to find the Lars Von Trier Trilogy at some point.

Finally started listening to the pod

Assuming I’m doing it right, I’m starting with the Phantom Menace episodes, and it’s so wild to hear them talking about Star Wars before the sequel trilogy and Disney’s milking the franchise to, well, Mandalorian and Grogu. (Also weird to listen to it now that Robert Duvall actually is dead.)

Anyway, excited to work my way through the catalog at last!

Finished a full-length draft in three weeks!

I'd written two drafts (the second very different from the first) of this play, which deals with death, resurrection, and AI, and decided to write a third for this staged-reading series I wanted to submit to...and I found out the deadline was a lot sooner than I expected. So I wrote like hell and got out a 94-page draft in, as the title says, three weeks. Pretty exhilarating to write like that, honestly. I put it up on NPX if you'd like to take a look!

  1. Which part of this is supposed to be bad?
  2. Why are they making Willett sound more daring and progressive than he is?
  3. Who or what am I supposed to vote FOR?
