Is the paid version any better?

I recently tested the free version of Le Chat Mistral Vibe for helping me write a storyboard for a thesis (Mostly evaluating sources on whether I should use them and helping me remember words since I'm not a native english speaker. I will not use it to generate my thesis.) and frankly it failed completely.

I created a project and uploaded the three sources I had so far. At first it didn't use them and I had to specifically point out that it should use the files (To be fair, it is said in the documentation that you need to explicitly tell it to use files). However, after two questions it hallucinated a quote in a funny way: It basically said that in source A, the author of source B said (insert quote here). And the funniest thing is that when I hovered my mouse over the quote, a popup told me that for this section source C was used.

Another mishap was when I wrote a sentence that included "by leading by example" which felt clunky. I asked whether it had any ideas on how to eliminate the second by. It printed me like 5 sentences, that all had "by leading by".

I tried the free version of ChatGPT with the same prompts and sure enough, it worked.

I really want to use european AI however, and Mistral seems to be the only one that offers anything for non-business customers.

So yeah, we're back at the title question now. Is the paid version that much better than the free one, or is this how Le Chat Vibe just generally is?
