Bearracuda First Timer
I’m planning on going to a Bearracuda event at the end of the month for pride. I’m a Bi 30 year old Otter/Chaser and am planning on going alone. I’ve been to a gay bar once in my life, but that was just in the small crappy town I’m from with not nearly as many people or things going on. I decided I’m only gonna be younger for so long and that I needed to seize life, and experience something like this because I’ve always wanted to.
I just had some general questions because as someone who’s not extremely use to these spaces, I want to have a better idea of what I’ll be getting myself into. Not just for the safety and curiosity of myself but to keep with the “decorum” of the event.
- Will I stick out more wearing a traditional outfit (shirt/shorts) than if I wear something more revealing?
- To other people who go to these things alone. What do you do when you first get there besides drinking to settle into the scene? Do people approach you or do you have to do most of the work to meet others?
- With me being a chaser at a bear event, is it appropriate for me to flirt with bigger guys without knowing what their physical preferences might be for other guys first? Is there any demand for skinnier guys at these things?
- How do you typically deny someone’s advances respectfully without leading them on? I know this one’s kinda stupid but with most of my experience coming from straight spaces I have never really had anyone come up and hit on me before like that.
- Is there any extra precautions I should take for my general safety as someone going to this thing alone outside of the obvious? (don’t drink too much etc.) I’m planning on taking Doxy Pep and only will be playing with condoms.
I know that’s a lot but I appreciate all positive and constructive responses. Ultimately I’m going into this thing with absolutely 0 expectations other than to experience something I never have before. Happy Pride🏳️🌈
