Questions about uni life (ACBS)

hi im an incoming y1 ACBS student (just accepted my offer few days back). I have some questions regarding the course and school life in general.

  1. How’s the schedule like? Am I able to pack it to 3 days? (If I pack it to 3 days will it be full days, 9-5 kinda lessons)

  2. Is it possible to juggle part time work with school? especially this double degree (for context im currently teaching 3 1-1 private students and 2 group classes)

  3. Is it really difficult to apply for financial aid? like the process (my family isn’t doing v well - about $700 PCI, I think I shld be able to be eligible for the top tier financial aid?)

4.How are the living expenses in hall like how much (roughly) do you all spend on food, hangouts etc per month?

  1. Is the hall culture really worth it? I live in the west so going NTU will not be too far for me. (I mean regardless I will still stay for a year to experience hall life HAHA)

  2. Since idh any frds going to ntu, I will be applying double room and will get a random roomie, how will they choose the roomie for me? Is it random? (but ok side note if anyone wanna room tgt can dm me! I’m a guy)

thank you for reading :)

hi guys, I had been thinking about this for weeks but I still can’t make a choice… (currently accepted SMU tho)

ok so ik there’s a lot of post asking about ntu vs smu biz and yes I read all of them but I nvr see anyone asking smu biz vs ntu biz & acc so ya…

I will choose accounting regardless of what school I enter (it’s just either it’s a second major or second degree). Planning to work in sg (yes ik both is good if I wanna work in sg I just need opinions HAHA)

NTU accountancy and business
pros:
-Strong accountancy program (but slightly weaker business program?)
-Relatively near my house (30min away by bus)
-guaranteed 2 years of hall stay
-Planning to major in either B&F / International trade
-Less competitive (compared to smu nus biz?)
-Can exempt econs mod (h2 econs A)
-Bigger uni campus

cons:
-heard from frds that her company doesn’t accept ntu biz students as intern
-not near CBD area so hard to intern while in sch
-workload might be heavier than smu biz (although there are quite a few overlapping mods)
-Might not use the accounting degree (since I’m not planning to work as auditor in big 4- but heard that it’s quite useful for finance)

SMU business:
pros:
-Guaranteed second major
-near CBD area so can intern and go school easier
-Finance is well known
-Planning to major in finance or operation management (can major in both ik but I want to major in accounting)
-Strong acad clubs

cons:
-Quite small campus
-GPA system might make it harder to score (since it’s out of 4 instead of 5)
-More competitive than ntu harder to do well
-No hall life
