Golf hotel and spa - South West England/South Wales

I’m aware this gets asked fairly frequently but does anyone have any recommendations for golf hotels/resorts in South West England or South Wales?

I have just come home from a night and a round at Bowood. My wife used the spa and relaxed in the hotel while I played, which worked out really well, so we are keen to do some more breaks like that. We don’t have kids and are pretty flexible with work so Sunday and Monday bookings work well for us.

I’ve got Celtic Manor, Vale of Glamorgan, Bovey Castle on my list so would be happy to hear from people who’ve had any breaks at those places, as well as any other recommendations. I’m sure people will also say The Belfry but we do like a bit of peace and quiet so wonder if that might be a bit staggy/laddy for us.

We’re just to the east of Bath near Trowbridge and are happy to drive 2 or 3 hours. I’m about a 15 handicap and really enjoy playing solo, but always happy to be paired up with people

Many thanks in advance!

Stand bag volume query

I'm looking for a bit of advice on relative sizes of stand bags. It's a fascinating topic for sure, but I'm looking to get a new stand bag as I'm finding my Ping Series 4 from circa 2015 a little limiting, both in terms of ingress and egress of clubs and storage space. It's fine for a quick 9 as it's nice and light but for a full round or in changeable conditions I can't fit much in it, like water, towels, waterproofs, extra layers, lucky charms, the weekly shop etc etc. It also isn't waterproof - not a problem at the moment but I'm hoping to play some more autumn and winter golf this year.

I'm also mainly using a Motocaddy Cube trolley at the moment, so the weight or size of a slightly bigger bag isn't an issue (and I'm still just about young enough to carry a slightly bigger bag), and indeed my current bag looks a bit out of proportion on the trolley - not an important issue I know.

I've been looking at the Callaway Fairway 14HD, the Motocaddy Hydroflex, the Titleist 4 Stadry and the Taylor Made Storm Dry, but unfortunately I don't have a golf shop near me that carries all those so it's tricky to compare to my Ping S4.

If anyone has any experience of those bags, how are they for size and general storage etc?
