Looking for woodworkers, finishers or wood industry professionals to test an experimental AI assistant for wood finishing

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a small experimental AI assistant focused on wood coating and finishing.

I work as a specialized technician in the wood coatings/finishing field, so this project comes from real technical experience and general knowledge of the topic. At this stage, it is only a personal experimental test, not a commercial product.

The goal is not only to help diagnose coating and finishing defects, but also to support reasoning and decision-making around:

coating/finishing cycles;

substrate preparation;

choosing between sealer, topcoat, isolator, primer, etc.;

water-based, solvent-based, UV or other coating technologies;

application problems;

application parameters;

machines and equipment, such as spray application, airmix, roller coater, flow-coating, drying systems, sanding, etc.;

process optimization in the workshop or in production.

It can also be used to reason through issues such as:

orange peel;

poor adhesion;

bubbles;

whitening / cloudiness;

poor drying;

sticky finish;

craters;

sanding problems;

incompatibility between coats;

choosing the most suitable coating cycle based on the substrate.

It is not meant to replace professional technical support. I’m simply looking for a few people willing to test it with real questions and give honest feedback.

What I need is simple:

try it with real questions or coating/finishing problems you have experienced;

tell me if the answer is useful, wrong, too generic, or missing important diagnostic questions;

give me your opinion on whether a tool like this could actually be useful in a workshop, joinery or production environment.

The tool is based on general technical knowledge and generic documentation.

The source material is mainly in Italian, but the assistant should be able to reply in English or other languages.

If anyone is interested in testing it for a short period, feel free to comment below or DM me.

Thanks!
