Behringer really is a tough one.

Yeah I know, another Behringer thread…

I just want to know HOW they do it, EVEN with their supply chains and factory etc. I bought a Pro-800 for £200 - 8 voice poly with aftertouch, all the features you want, even the GiGli mod thing in there.

It sounds amazing. It has that vintage Prophet sound - I have a Sequential Take 5, which I love the most overall, but sometimes the P-800 sounds BETTER for what I need. It has that proper vintage analog wonky sound. There’s nothing else - nobody else has made an affordable clone like it and if I want the real deal brand new, I’d be paying thousands for a real Prophet.

I also have a Model D, I paid £166 and it’s just amazing. Again, nobody else has managed to produce something with quite that insane level of value.

I don’t get it. Do Behringer just expose how overpriced other synths are?

Come on. Who is still giving Waves money?

Waves have been fairly hated for a while now - with good reason in many ways, but I had forgotten about them until recently a couple of YouTube videos popped up about them. Apparently it’s still the case that you can’t just transfer licenses to another machine, you have to buy them again, they charge for updates (not upgrades, but updates) and generally just horrible practices.

So my question is - how are they still doing this stuff? They must be finding that it still works otherwise they wouldn’t do it. Thing is, these days, there are SO many plugin developers that are making high quality stuff and many are even free. They’re often regarded as better. So it’s not like nobody has a choice.

Sure, some pros need to keep up their licenses because they may import sessions that use Waves plugins, I get that, but surely they’re in the minority. Who are all these people showing Waves that their business model still works?

Good idea to start a new channel with a different focus?

So I have a YouTube channel where I do music production tutorials and the occasional music software review, all very matter of fact and it’s actually going well at 3k subs.

The problem is, I want to focus on something other than the straight up factual stuff and want to showcase some of my own music and such, but I feel like when I do that, it confuses the existing audience. Is there any risk in starting a new channel to get that side of things out of my system when I want and doesn’t “muddy” my main channel? I don’t even care if people don’t connect it to me, all of this is just for fun for me anyway.

I feel like my audience has latched onto my channel based on one kind of content but I don’t just want to stick to that one style.

So I want to add another keyboard synth to my setup. I already have a Take 5 and a Behringer Model D. I’ve looked at so many options but to get full analog poly, you have to pay the price - apart from when it comes to the Deepmind 12 which is currently £539.

I mean, that’s insane for an analog poly synth with all those features. I can’t see any other product that even starts to compete for the price - at least on paper.

Am I missing any alternatives? I could, of course, just not bother and carry on but this is r/synthesizers not r/sensiblechoices
