Wondering if you people on the site would want to read something like this?
Yo! I’ve been writing a novel for a little while now, and I don’t have that much written down yet, just the first few chapters. But I planned on it having a lot of different elements I guess you could say. I’ll list what I have so far. I dunno if people would like this or if I should just keep it as a passion project to myself. The story will probably be preeetty long. Also I don’t think this counts as a promo but if it does then sorry!
-MC dies and gets transported to a new world (woah)
-The world is similar to a fantasy video game. I want it to resemble something like dynasty warriors but in a fictitious world. The story would take place in a land similar to china mostly. But across the globe would be a land that resembles more of the western world like medieval Europe. I also think there would be some kind of demonic realm invasion at some point. But that’s a maybe.
-The power system is something like cultivation mixed with a video game system. Instead of scriptures and manuals and whatnot, there’s basically magical weapons that are either rarely forged or found that once wielded and trained with, allows them to access the Musou system. It’s inspired by dynasty warriors and other RPGs, and gives a reason for random people to be so powerful. The more you use a weapon and basically cultivate with it the more skills and perks you unlock. Lots of skills are exclusive to roles. So if you’re a leader you can get abilities that make your underlings stronger. Or if your more like a landlord you can make land you control more fertile or buildings stronger. Stuff like that.
-I want it to be very military focused. The MC is transmigrated into the body of what is basically a tutorial boss. Leader of a religious rebellion that’s basically almost dead already. It’s heavily inspired by the Yellow Turban rebellion. (Literally called it the Orange Sky rebellion lol) It’s mostly just bandits and fanatics at this point and pretty much nobody likes them. The empire that united the continent “recently” collapsed and the remaining kingdoms have formed a coalition to end the rebellions. Though tensions are high among them. Also gunpowder is being tested for the first time and things like cannons and eventually muskets will slowly become more relevant.
-The MC isn’t the only real world person. A couple thousand people were gathered after they died and sent out into the world to possess the bodies of other people. Almost of them having a Musou level. However body snatchers are a known and despised demonic creature, so everyone has to be careful about revealing themselves and staying at least somewhat true to their character. People can change slowly but it has to be believable. There will be a lot of people that die at the start around world due to this. It’ll serve as a warning or news to the MC that a lot of people have been accused of being body snatchers lately and executed or exiled.
-Leveling is simple. If you don’t have a Musou level you’re at 0 and if you do you’re at 1. The stronger you get the higher the level. Not the other way around. The level is uncapped. Killing enemies seems to make people stronger, almost like the gods encourage violence.
-Since the world is freshly made, the average level for a Musou user is around 5 which is pretty low. The relative peace in the world until it’s canon start is the excuse why. It’s meant to resemble a multiplayer game in a way with everyone starting roughly equal. But of course instead of npcs it’s real people, just given false info and memories. And the “players” are just people from another world.
-Probably light romance at some point but not for a long time. Not really any fan service probably either. I’m a new author so I’d be scared to write that in lol
-MC was a pretty average guy before, and won’t be strong for a long time. Against common soldiers he would be strong but against other Musuou users he’d be equal at best. He’s also not a psycho and can get scared and panic. I know some people hate mcs like that but I don’t want to write a permanent super badass. I want him to be cool sometimes though. I plan for him to be pretty smart but not genius level. He starts in a very “Dong Zhou” type of body. Look him up if you don’t know hehe. He’ll change over time to something more reasonable. Definitely not a skinny twig or roided up heart throb though. He’s definitely an underdog to start. Eventually he’ll be a real juggernaut.
-Obviously since it’s meant to be like dynasty warriors, Musou users will always be a big presence on the battlefield, but the average soldier, especially with some buffs, won’t be slouches either. Musou users always seem to have a habit of finding each other in a fight too, so they won’t just be killing hundreds of thousands of men singlehanded without being stopped. Except for maybe a Lu Bu type of character.
-Musou users have access to a video game like ui system. Average person doesn’t but they know it exists and can see it when it’s being used.
-The world would be massive and the populations would be massive. Some musuo skills help people grow food and build houses and walls very quickly. And healing skills mean that people live for a long time and battle casualties are often lower than you’d expect so populations start high and keep growing. It also means that battles against Musou users are long and bloody, and captures are more common. And armies are massive and more viable to feed.
-Musou weapons are extremely valuable. When found or captured in wartime, they’ll usually be given to soldiers that show the most promise, or showed valour on the battlefield. The culture of the world is very martial. Musou items exist though too. Like Rings cups, necklaces and more. But they usually are bad for combat and fulfil a mercantile or support role.
-The god that made this world is very into video games, and that’s why he made this world. Essentially to spectate his own kind of game he made. He stays hands off for the most part.
So uh yeah it’s a lot of weird premises kinda smashed together. Is it too much? would people not want to bother with it? Let me know!! Thanks for reading my big list of stuff <3
