Co-op base building game where you gather materials through expedition runs and the base’s composition changes its effects + progression
co-op building game but to get the materials you have to go on expeditions and fight waves of mobs/enemies.
basically you have a shared base somewhere and you have to join expeditions to get materials. the harder the expedition is, the better materials you can get. once you come back, the materials are used to build/upgrade the base.
the rank/tier of the building is determined by the ratio/composition of the materials used, like:
- 1 part stone
- 3 part steel
- 6 part spatial titanium
(all just examples not confirmed materials (notice mainly for that last one))
i was also thinking maybe the materials are procedurally generated or infinitely scaling somehow so there’s always harder expeditions and better materials to get.
it’s partly skill based for the combat portion but there’s also personal progression like levels, gear, weapons, etc because otherwise some expedition tiers would just be impossible.
the base tier matters because eventually there’s a huge boss/final wave attack and your rank is determined by how long you survive it. higher tier bases would get more health and defenses like shields, turrets, etc.
another idea i had is that depending on what material is the highest in the base composition, it changes the base’s effects/playstyle somehow.
for example:
- more steel = stronger defenses
- more spatial materials = energy shields
- etc
i’m trying to make it feel replayable and scale basically infinitely without just becoming number inflation.
i also want the game to actually feel fun to grind and not become repetitive after a few runs.
what do you guys think?
does this sound interesting or too complicated/repetitive?
what parts sound the strongest/weakest?
