Just curious, how are you guys paying for dorming when it’s so expensive?

I’m an incoming freshman who’s commuting to UCR (thankfully) so even if I did acquire debt I don’t think it’d be that much. But genuinely how are you guys paying for dorming on top of tuition? Do you guys just have large amounts of fin aid, grants, and scholarships? Or are most of you just taking out private loans to pay the missing cost? I wanna focus mostly on loans because I know as of now there’s a federal student limit of like $5,500 for freshman. (Correct me if I’m wrong all this loan stuff is very new to me sorry).

Did anyone else get this email?

I already accepted the middle class scholarship along with all my other fin aid about two weeks ago so I don’t really know why I’m receiving this email. I think I can probably just disregard it but what do yall think.

Should i worry about getting a job as an incoming freshman?

Getting a job is already competitive enough especially recently, and i know I would like to work on campus eventually because i was also given the work study grant, but should i hold off on looking for work until i fully adjust to college? I don’t even have a resume yet so I might hold off on applying until winter quarter. Also id love to hear your experiences with working on campus. How’s the hours, the experience itself, and is getting a job on campus as competitive compared to finding work that isn’t on campus?

I won’t be able to take the right writing classes

So my Writing placement assessment is in a few days, but when my advising session rolls around (about a week later) I won’t have my score from the wpp which will allow me to register for the right writing classes. If anyone’s been in a similar situation like me do you have any tips? They also said I should just attend my advising session when it comes but I was thinking I could just change it to a later date so I could have my score ready?

Haven’t received official aid offer yet.

A lot of people already started receiving their official offers and were even sent an email beforehand letting them know that it was done. I haven’t gotten anything like that yet. The most I have regarding my official aid offer is an email from about two weeks ago telling me that my official award is pending. My fafsa and preliminary offers were received so I don’t think I’m missing anything? And I also don’t have any holds on r web either? I’m pretty sure I’m just being paranoid and I should wait a bit longer, but I just find it weird that I haven’t gotten any email yet telling me that it’s done even though a lot of people have.

Used MacBook Pro M1 or the MacBook Neo?

My first year in college starts this fall and I’m completely stuck between a used MacBook Pro or a brand new MacBook Neo.

I know there’s MacBook Pro is superior in most ways, but my main concern is that I won’t be able to get coverage for the pro if I do end up purchasing it. I’m getting it off Offer Up for $725 which is a pretty good price for 16gb of ram and 512gb of storage.

It all just comes down to coverage/insurance at this point. The Neo is also pretty tempting because I know I can get the 512gb model for about $600 in total w/ apple care coverage and student discounts.

I’d choose the Pro for sure but I was wondering if there are any ways I could get any sort of coverage for it because being safe with this purchase is a SUPER big priority for me and i wanna sleep comfortably knowing that the MacBook Pro I buy is safe.

Parchment trouble

So early this week (June 15th) I made a Parchment account so I can send my transcript from a community college I attended for dual enrollment. I made the account with no issues and everything seemed great. I logged back in today and for some weird reason the class I took is gone? I could’ve sworn there was a section that showed the class i attended for dual enrollment (it was an administration of justice class) but when I logged back in today I saw nothing? I really hope someone could help me out here because now I’m worried T-T.
