I’m currently studying theater in Santo Domingo, and I’ve been seriously thinking about moving to New York City to study acting and fully dedicate my life to it.
I’d really like to hear from international actors/artists who are working in countries different from where they were born.
How did you get there?
How did you train or study?
What do you do now professionally?
Was it difficult to break into the industry as a foreigner?
How do you survive financially while pursuing acting?
And realistically… is it possible to actually live from this career?
I’m especially interested in honest experiences about immigration, auditions, networking, survival jobs, loneliness, opportunities, and whether moving abroad for acting was worth it in the end.
