Scammed
Met a girl on Tinder who claimed to be from either Russia or Kazakhstan. We chatted briefly and then planned to meet up. I told her I’d be bringing a friend since she mentioned her friend would also be there, and she agreed without any hesitation.
We met at Bali Hai Pier and initially just walked around trying to find a decent place to eat and have a drink. We suggested a few normal spots, but they didn’t seem interested in any of them.
While walking toward Walking Street, a man approached us with a menu and invited us into a venue. The girls immediately showed interest and insisted it looked good, so we decided to sit there. In hindsight, this was the first clear red flag.
Once seated, things escalated quickly. The girls immediately ordered champagne and one of the most expensive shisha options available. Shortly after, another bottle was brought over. They then noticed the place had karaoke and we were moved inside that section, where additional champagne and another shisha were ordered.
At this point it became clear something was off. I told my friend we should leave, but we were pressured to order more drinks instead, which we refused. Up until then, the girls were acting very high-end and “wealthy,” but it felt staged.
As soon as we insisted on leaving, their attitude changed and they suddenly tried to redirect us to a strip club instead where they would dance and put up a show for us, this was something we were not into at all and we did not want to play any part further of this setup.
We left immediately after that.
Total bill was around 75,000 THB.
Based on the experience, this felt like a coordinated setup between the girls and the venue to push overpriced orders. I have photos and contact details of one of the individuals involved, but I’m unsure whether to share them.
