[TOMT][ALBUM] 1970s rock LP cover — yellow background, black kabuki-style symmetrical face/mask
I'm trying to identify a vinyl LP cover that has stumped Japanese music fans for over 40 years.
It appeared in the opening sequence of a Japanese TV show ("Best Hit USA," 1981–1989), where ~113 album jackets fall like dominoes. This one is jacket #62–64 in that sequence and has never been identified.
Details:
- Yellow / mustard background, full-bleed
- A single symmetrical face or mask in the center, drawn in black/dark brown lines
- The face looks like Japanese kabuki makeup (kumadori).
- V-shaped or horn-like marks on the forehead, lines around the eyes and cheeks, a beard-like marking below the mouth
- Almost certainly a 1970s release (roughly 1971–1978)
Context: the jackets immediately around it in the sequence are Boz Scaggs "Silk Degrees" (1976), Uriah Heep "Look At Yourself" (1971), Pablo Cruise "A Place in the Sun" (1977), and Fleetwood Mac "Rumours" (1977) — so it's likely the same era and a rock / AOR / soft-rock / prog / funk record.
Any ideas? Thank you!
