Pre-nursing schedule

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming LSU pre-nursing freshman and had a question about scheduling. Do I have to take both Biology and Chemistry during my first semester in order to apply to the nursing program in the spring, or can I still apply if I’m taking one of them (Bio or Chem) while I’m applying to nursing school?

I took the ALEKS placement test a while ago and got a 71, so I should be exempt from MATH 1021. I also have AP credit for ENGL 1001, so I’m trying to figure out the best schedule for my first semester and what courses I actually need to prioritize.

One thing that’s confusing me is that my degree audit/scheduling system still shows MATH 1021 as a required course even though I met the ALEKS score for exemption. Do I still need to register for it, or does it just take time for the exemption to be processed? Any advice from current LSU nursing students would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! 😊

Housing selection

I’m kinda confused about LSU housing and residential dorms because I pick tmrw😭
I thought residential college dorms were ONLY for students officially in those programs because LSU says residential students get assigned by housing instead of selecting rooms themselves. But I keep seeing people say they got picked dorms like South, Highland, and West even though they weren’t in the residential college or weren’t even the matching major.
For example:

someone last year said they got Highland and they aren’t even a science major

a business major got West Hall through traditional housing

people are saying they got South Hall during normal selection

So are residential dorms partially opened to traditional students if there’s extra space? Or are some floors/rooms reserved while others are general housing?
I’m trying to understand how LSU actually does housing because the website wording is confusing 😭
