Sour tasting meat

What’s up, y’all. I was eating raw beef for lunch: new York strip steak from thousand hill farms. I bought the beef a few days ago.

Right away, I could taste a sourness in the meat. Although it was off-putting, I took a few more bites. A few hours later. I had to take a shit and my stool came out kind of runny and smelled like straight sour beef😂. Anyway, I know of high meat, so I’m not intimated by old or gross meat. I am curious if anyone knows why. I tried to look into it and all I really came up with was that sometimes grass-fed beef can be sour. Also, it seems like this meat went right through me, unlike other raw beef I’ve eaten in the past.

Question eating raw meat

I’d like to start off by saying, I have tried this diet in the past and I plan on continuing again in the future. My question is: if humans are meant to eat raw meat, why does eating raw meat make me gag and why is the experience so unpleasant? I’ve eaten raw eggs, milk, beef and chicken.

Edit: The answers about supermarket meat are correct. Unfortunately, I don’t have a vehicle right now, so I can’t buy from farmers or even farmers markets, but I just bought a grass fed lamb cut from Whole Foods. I’m going to see how it goes.
