Happy asthmatic

Hello !

Just popped in to tell a happy tale:

I had a doctor a few months ago go line by line with me on some blood work after an abrupt ER visit concerning chest pain. That led to a formal rediagnosis and treatment of asthma I (F29) have been told by my mother I have had since birth.

I was sort of in denial in my late teens and early 20s, thinking I could willpower my lungs into functioning.

I've been on a preventative mix these last few months. And. Y'all. I can breathe.

Today I bested my PR on a 10K by 6 minutes. I ran a 58:20. Without stopping. AND IT FELT EASY.

Anyway. End of happy tale. Praise to thorough doctors and effective medication for something I thought I could just will away 🙌.

What do?

Question to teachers in Eugene / Springfield:

Is there any hope for FTE classroom jobs opening up in the next 5 years? I'm familiar with the current budget situation and the impossibility of hiring for at least the next year or two.

For context, I graduate in May 2027 with an ME.d. I'm currently licensed and endorsed in two areas. I'll be adding two more endorsements upon graduation.

I make $47k gross annually in a non-union facility. There's no hope of a transparent pay schedule nor change in benefits in the near future there. It has an income ceiling I'm not sure is sustainable for me long term.

So.. I'm curious. Local educators. What are my options? What would you do? What did you do?
