Gym equipment stores?

Trying to build a home gym little by little and wondering if there’s a place with used gym equipment since play it again sports is gone. Or where local gyms auction/sell old equipment? Commercial Treadmills, bars, plates, dumbbells, etc. I do check marketplace but commercial treads are usually not on there, same with a whole setup of plates and bars together. thanks! :)

South Eugene High School ends outdoor education program amid budget cuts

How was this allowed to happen!?!?!?
As a SEHS student, I was on the verge of totally dropping out of school, and the Integrated Outdoor Program was exactly what I needed to get me engaged with the material again.
This loss is an ABSOLUTE TRAVESTY and people should absolutely be calling/mailing/emailing the 4j School Board to advocate for the IOP program, this absolutely helps maintain the health, safety, and growth of students.

How many people are gonna need to die?

This is a pattern, not an accident. Hit-and-runs. Cyclists abandoned in the road. Drivers who vanish without a real consequence. When does "unfortunate incident" become "public crisis"? We need serious enforcement, and accountability—not condolences after the next fatality. How many more before action?

Wow

Just wow.
No 4H and Extension services
No Willamalane park funding
No South Lane Fire and Rescue funding
No Lane Fire Authority funding
No Siuslaw School District bond

I guess Lane County doesn’t like farmers, kids, parks, or ambulances.

ETA: sorry everyone, I was being reactive and feeling upset and discouraged at the results. The fire levy’s failing is really bad and that’s what got me. I know times are absurdly hard and everyone is struggling, myself included; I live rurally and these failing means people will die waiting for ambulances. We’re already short on ambulances and EMTs. I understand it’s privileged to have an extra tank of gas money for emergency services, and it wasn’t my intention to guilt folks, just express frustration at the whole local, national, global situation. That and the Extension service is frickin awesome, especially for kids and rural communities.

I Think This Is A Good Place

To sound off. I’ve never been one to shy away from speaking my mind, and right now, I’m a boiling pot about to blow.
20 years ago, applying for a place to live was fairly easy. There were move in specials, incentives, and you were literally moving in by the weekend. Today? It’s downright TERRIFYING. The specials and incentives are hard to come by. Rental prices are absolutely insane and through the roof, you need to be able to cough up close to $5,000 oh and you need to make 3 or 4 times the rent, 0 evictions, pristine credit and what else am I missing? There are more people than not who fits into all of these. The jobs either don’t pay a reasonable wage, don’t give you full time, or both. Have you ever been evicted? YES! Are you surprised? I PROMISE YOU that we’re all doing our absolute best to keep a roof over our heads, the lights on and food on the table, BUT I am seeing more and more people looking for resources to help with rent and boy let me tell you that they are SWAMPED with applications from people desperate for help. This should not be happening! Motels are being used JUST to get a bed for however many days you can afford. Even “affordable” housing isn’t all that affordable, it’s really not.
Something needs to change. The homeless population has quadrupled and no one sees this as a problem? $50-65 EACH non refundable to fill out an application? With absolutely zero guarantee that you’ll be approved? People are scared to death, you can see it everywhere!
Something needs to change. Something needs to happen. I don’t know how we as a population can survive like this anymore! There USED to be a middle class. Nope! Not anymore! You’re either at the bottom or the top there is no in between.
I don’t know about you guys, but I am scared to death. My anxiety is through the roof, I toss and turn all night, and my brain absolutely refuses to turn off because I know that I am on the verge of losing almost everything.
We’re all not bad people, we’re not losers and we’re not lazy! We are just TRYING to survive the skyrocketing costs of living! What can any of us do? Is there even a way to fix this? I don’t know, but if I’m being honest I am sick and tired getting out of bed (if I even do some days because I’m just about ready to give up) and going through the motions of the everyday struggle.
This is not how I thought my older years would be. I am so much more than this and so are you. Thank you for letting me release this, I had to. Both of us have an income, but this isn’t the 80’s or 90’s anymore and it’s just not enough. I’ll say it one more time…EVERYONE deserves a roof over their heads and to not live in constant fear of the phone ringing or the wolves knocking at their doors.

31M trying to make friends in Eugene

Hey what’s up everyone. I moved to Eugene a little over a year ago and honestly just haven’t really found a friend group or people to chill with yet. I’m 31, have a girlfriend and 2 kids, and figured I’d throw this out there.

I’m really into UFC and sports in general and I’ve become a pretty huge Ducks fan since moving here. I also play guitar and mostly listen to heavy metal and all the subgenres. I smoke weed, game sometimes, and used to longboard a ton before a brain injury kinda took me out of it. I still miss it though and would still cruise around sometime if anyone’s down lol.

Just looking for good people to talk sports, music, games, life, whatever. Even recommendations for places to meet people around Eugene would be cool.

THE NORTHBOUND FAR RIGHT LANE ON MOHAWK IS NOT FOR MERGING INTO THE LEFT TURN LANES ONTO 126. USE THE LEFT LANE TO GET INTO THE TURNING LANES. THINK 2 MINUTES AHEAD!!!!

Part of learning to drive is knowing which lane to be in before you need to be in that lane.

Orthopedic Recommendations

Hey y’all, I’m looking for recommendations for a good orthopedic office.

I was originally referred to Pacific Sports and Spine and had an appointment with them about 3 weeks ago. I was told I needed additional X-rays, so I had those done at their new clinic the following day.

I figured I’d get a call or some kind of follow-up, but after waiting about 2 weeks without hearing anything, I started trying to contact them. At this point I’ve called roughly a dozen times, left voicemails every time since nobody answers, and still haven’t received any response.

My back pain has continued getting worse, so I’m hoping to find an office that actually communicates and seems to genuinely care about their patients (which, unfortunately, has been a challenge with my experience in Eugene).

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Eugene Allergies

I've delt with these allergies for such a long time and tried different combinations of drugs which have never worked up until today:

Nasonex

Bi-Mart brand Allegra

Hopefully it's a short grass season.

Free or cheap STI testing in Eugene?

This may not be the sub for this post, irdk, but I'm so sick of accruing hundreds of dollars in medical bills from frequent STI tests. Does anyone have info or recommendations on free or reduced cost STI testing in Eugene? I know a lot of it probably boils down to my specific health insurance, but maybe there's something out there that makes the type of insurance plan a non-factor?

Free river rock

Before I wind up renting an excavator and hauling all of this to LFP, does anyone want some free small to medium river rock? Probably 4-6 yards in total. Maybe half of it is still in the ground and that half is still in soil. West Eugene area.
