Why don’t more thrillers follow gone girl’s half way through plot twist?

I have read a pretty good amount of thrillers this year, still have a lot to go, but have read all the ones people talk about the most. Gone girl by Gillian Flynn is essentially what I started with this year and I’ve never found anything as good mostly because revealing the plot twist half way through is genius and I wonder why more books don’t do that. The one that comes to mind that did is the housemaid by Freida McFaddenand as much as that book was just “alright” I felt after the reveal it got MUCH better and had a great 3rd act. I think seeing the fall out of a reveal is way better than just leaving us on it at the end. Let me know what yall think.

Best David Fincher film?

SPOILERS FOR GONE GIRL. Gone girl is easily my favorite. Love me a good murder mystery and a thriller wrapped into one, not to mention the excellent score by Trent Reznor.

Mr Mercedes

Idk if it’s just me but was this book EXTREMELY boring to anyone else? I love me a crime thriller but this one took me forever to read because I just couldn’t get into it. The one upside is that there’s a great moment with a hamburger. But other than that snooze fest. Not to mention the racist jokes and constant talk about boobs 😭. Written well and absolutely beautiful cover but a lot of missed potential.

Look Closer- David Ellis

WOW. What an incredible book. I’ve been trying to find something on the level of gone girl and the millennium trilogy and finally found it in this book. An actually smart book that doesn’t sound like it was written for 5 year olds (hidden pictures and the only one left). Definitely recommend if you have recently been reading okay thrillers like me.

Just finished this book, I know it’s been talked about a bunch but I just wanted to see what everyone else who read it might’ve thought. I didn’t hate the book at all like some people, I just thought it was okay, but is that plot twist really that mind blowing? We didn’t even know the man broke into the house until the last 20% of the book and it’s revealed who he was right after. I feel like the entire intrigue of the book was that Alicia wasn’t the one responsible, or at least I thought, but she actually is 😆. I think the bigger shock factor was the Theo storyline outside of the asylum taking place in the past. Anyway, let me know what you guys thought!
