Finally bit the bullet and got the x100vi
I feel like I’ve been obsessing over this for weeks and I finally bit the bullet. I have had the original x100 years ago and it was the best. I eventually sold that so that I could upgrade to some bigger more diverse gear that was better for video, as I shoot a lot of video to support my work (as you can see I make music). I eventually realised I missed the quick point and shoot nature of the Fuji and because I could afford it, I got the x100f during the x100v hype. I have used that camera so much for personal stuff and documenting friends gigs etc. I have recently just been back in the curiosity mindset and even though I already have the x100f (of course I’m now going to sell it), as well as a Lukix S5ii and a LUMIX S9 which are both fantastic and serve me to no end for my content creation… I just could not resist. The 40 megapixel sensor along with the new video capabilities and new film emulations just became something I couldn’t ignore. I looked into the other options Fuji have with interchangeable lenses… but I just feel like I have cameras that serve me for this. The x100vi now gives me so much more freedom to grab amazing pictures and 4k video when out and about. More for lifestyle and life documenting type shots of my kids and family life as well as travel and random BTS type visuals. I found a good one on the used market via MPB in the UK. I didn’t love the idea of paying £1500 for a used camera…. But I gave in to the fact that there is basically no other way I can scratch this itch. Plus I can claw back some money by selling the x100f and I will probably sell my insta360 X5 too… maybe even my Lumix 18-40 lens and that should just about bring it to a point where I am only down a few hundred pounds. I’m hoping to share some images I capture with it when I get chance to really have a good play with it. I’m just posting this as a happy man that took the plunge. I considered waiting to see if a 7th model came out, but even if it does you can guarantee that there will be a huge waiting list on that one too. And in reality this gives me everything I need to feel a real upgrade. The x100f still did an amazing job to be fair but now being able to get the Fuji colours onto some off the cuff video clips is pretty exciting too.
Does anyone have any regrets in buying this camera? Has anyone experienced any negatives to watch out for?
