GF needs help! Would you be happy with "White Ivory" if you originally wanted "White/Graphite Grey"?

I hope this is permitted. I just stumbled upon this subreddit while browsing every corner of the internet looking for a birthday gift for my boyfriend.
So basically, after some FBI-type research, I found out that he's been wanting a specific pair of sneakers—the ASICS GEL-KAYANO 14 in White / Graphite Grey—but he never managed to get them. I thought, “Wow, easy gift!”... I was very wrong.
Why is this specific colorway so difficult to find?! The only ones I could find online are reselling for $250-$350 CAD, and his size isn't even available. Meanwhile, other colors of the same model are stocked everywhere for $150-$200.
Looking at all the other colors available, I think the "White / Ivory" colorway is visually the closest. I actually found a pair in his size at a local boutique. I love the look, and I know neutral colors with some contrast are right up his alley. However, the store only does size exchanges (no refunds), so I'm hesitant to pull the trigger.
If you were him, would you be happy receiving a close alternative (White Ivory), or would it be a disappointment since it's not the exact specific pair?
