Is June even a good time to go?

Anyways, we’re flying in to Boston, and driving to Plymouth from there to our air bnb. That is however just a maybe unless there is somewhere else affordable and better. I saw some towns in cape cod are like 2.5 hours away or more from there and would preferably not have to spend hours driving to get to where we are staying.
Besides where to stay- what beaches do you recommend or activities and *affordable* places to eat? Anything you can tell me really! We do not like museums sorry :(

Also- my husband agreed to go on a whale watching boat cruise, but I know he’s probably terrified and is only doing it cause whales are cool, but if there’s also any non water things that are fun please do tell
