Advice Needed: Increase Interval Distance or Run Nonstop
As the title suggests, I’m looking for advice and input on my next steps as a beginner. I just completed N2R and finished my first 5K this weekend (yay!) using an intervals approach where I ran for 0.8km and walked for 0.2km (for the last km, I was super stoked and walked only about 0.1km at the halfway before running to the finish because I had some energy in reserve).
Anyway, I like this interval approach and so am wondering whether it makes sense to keep at it and focus on increasing total distance or to scale back to say 2.5km and start building up nonstop running distance. I feel like my ego has been driving that decision a bit and so wondering how other folks have handled it. Open to advice and really appreciate replies. Thank you!
Also, for what it’s worth, I’m overweight so wanting to really make sure my body can keep up with the running for the long term too.
