Journey So Far
My food/weight history - I (38F) gained around 70 lbs when I was pregnant with my daughter and managed to lose that myself over the course of several years (my daughter is 9 now). A few years ago I got into a toxic relationship and I overate and overdrank during that time as it was a coping strategy. The relationship is now completely over but I find myself 70 lbs overweight again and I don't want to take another 5 or so years to lose it.
In terms of eating habits, I actually eat very clean, I just really struggle with over eating and red wine. I actually love salads, don't eat a lot of meat and don't enjoy or crave fast food. My issue is my portion control and then my red wine consumption. A typical day for me might be some eggs (3) in am omelette with cheese and a whole wheat tortilla, then for lunch I'll have a large salad (typically clean with kale but I will use feta cheese and dressing), then dinner will be something homemade with lots of vegetables (roast chicken, veggie burger etcs), my portions are just huge and so calorie wise I'm consuming a lot. The real issue happens at night, I can drink anywhere from one to two (three at the weekend) bottles of red wine, then I'll start on the cheese and crackers and/or nuts and chips. This is where the extra calories really add up and it's caused the massive weight gain.
Anyway, I decided to start on wegovy to help minimize the over eating and excessive drinking. I started on the 1.5 mg last week and to be honest haven't noticed much. I tested myself during the week twice by buying a bottle of wine with the hope I would only have one glass and then call it quits, I finished the bottle both times.
I spoke with my doctor and was able to get a prescription for 4 mg which I started today despite only being on the 1.5 mg for a week. I didn't have many side effects on the 1.5 mg just some reflux at night especially with the wine but nothing too terrible. I have lost 0.8 lbs which I'm not sure actually counts.
Today is the first day of the 4 mg. I took it at 6 AM and waited until 730 AM to have my coffee. It made me feel incredibly nauseous. I had some Greek yogurt with honey and granola just to get something else into my stomach, I ate it all and the nausea went away. I think I'll skip the coffee all together tomorrow or wait until after I've eaten.
Really hope I start to lose weight on the 4 mg, I've decided just to not buy wine for now until I am confident that I'll be able not to drink the entire bottle.
I will keep updating as time goes on.
