Follow-up: battery runtime test on my stock 6th gen iPod Classic (160GB)

A stock 6th gen iPod Classic reached 35+ hours of continuous playback during a test on its original battery.

Following up on my earlier post about this same iPod Classic where I shared the basic diagnostics (SMART data / usage stats).

I’ve now done a full continuous playback test and wanted to share the result and context.

Device info:

160GB 6th gen iPod Classic (thick model)

Bought new around 2007

Never opened or repaired

Original HDD and battery still inside

Same unit as in my previous post

Earlier diagnostics:

0 reallocations

~12 hours total power-on time

20 start/stop cycles

Test setup:

Continuous MP3 playback on repeat

50% volume

50% brightness

5 second backlight timer

Hold switch mostly on during playback

Standard headphone output

Same unit used for the entire test.

Result:

It ran for 35+ hours of continuous playback before eventually shutting down later in the same run.

Battery stayed green for most of the test.

Context:

This is just one unit and one test. I didn’t really expect it to go that far, maybe around 15 hours based on what I usually see for these.

Not sure how typical this is, just sharing the result.

Has anyone seen similar runtime on stock 6th gen Classics with original batteries?

Back when mousepads were built like tanks

This thing teleported me straight back to 2004.

Old LAN parties, Quake, Counter-Strike 1.6, SoF2, Unreal instagib, CoD TeamSpeak, wired mice, CRTs and hauling a full tower PC across town.

Found my old SteelSeries S&S today

Won it at a LAN event and somehow barely used it.

Price check / Interest check: Black 2007 iPod Classic 6th Gen 160GB ("Thick") - Only 12 HDD hours!

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a price and interest check on my black 2007 iPod Classic 160GB "Thick" model (6th generation).

This device is 100% original, never opened, and has spent most of its life in a drawer. I checked the SMART data and the hard drive only has 12 power-on hours!

Details:

Model: 6th Gen 160GB Thick (2007) - Black

Front condition: Great overall condition. The aluminum faceplate and click wheel are very clean. There is one very light hairline scratch on the screen glass.

Back condition: Typical light hairline scratches on the chrome, but no deep gouges. All engravings, text, and the Apple logo are still perfectly crisp and legible.

Hard Drive: Only 12 hours of use. 0 reallocs / 0 pending sectors.

Battery: Still holds a great charge, easily lasts a full day of playback.

Location: Europe Belgium.

I have attached pictures of the front, the back, and a photo of the HDSMARTData screen as proof of the hours.

Given the extremely low usage and original state, what would be a fair collector's price for this? Thanks!
