I’ll start with this is an older clock. Im 31 and my grandparents have had it for as long as I can remember. It went years without being wound, at least a decade. I have recently inherited the clock. It keeps great time, but when it chimes on the hour and half hour it’s very slow. Here’s the best way I can explain it.

It pops open, go “Coo”, wait a second and a half “Coo”. Wait 2 seconds. “Coo”, wait a second and a half, “coo”.

When I was a kid the chime was a normal speed. Anyway I could fix it? I’m fairly handy, so if it’s a simple fix, I can do it. However, I DEFINITELY don’t want to risk breaking it. If it’s something than can be fixed, I’m more than willing to have it done by a professional if you have any recommendations.

I think I have a handle on the legal reasoning given and the outcome. But what I don't understand is if he is suing for monetary damages, wouldn't it make more sense to sue the institution if a larger payout is your goal? You can only get as much as the other party has, and jail staff are going to have way less than an institution. Is there some law or statute preventing him?

Sorry, I am not a legal scholar or anything. I'm just a guy who REALLY likes reading law and court opinions.
