My husband and I decided to adopt a new dog. We already have two cats, a female (5 to 6 years old) and a male (around 2 to 3 years old). Both are spawned. Now... The new dog is a 6-month old female and she's full of energy. So far we're keeping her on the outside part of the house (it's covered) and the cats inside.

We have no experience with mixing them together, and we're afraid it might not work. I know it takes time, but what can we do to make it smoother? We tried to put the male more directly in contact with her because he seems more interested, but they both disliked it, almost fight-like behavior. We got worried.

She's also not really enjoying being outside on her own, but I can't be next to her all day long. Any tips? I appreciate.
