AITAH for complaining on my co worker for what she said?
Yesterday at work I complained to people and culture because this Filipina nurse came to sit at the same table as me while we were feeding patients during lunch time, and she asked me if it was being served was turkey. I confirmed to her it was turkey. She then proceeded to say “you white people whenever you have a birthday party at a restaurant you guys make the people pay for their own food even if you invite them. “ do you guys even write it on the invitation beforehand? “ I confirmed with her that I myself personally don’t make people pay if I’m hosting anything, and I’ve never seen an invite where it says pay your own fair. If I don’t want to pay for anyone or have a huge gathering I simply won’t do it. She was just laughing the whole time like uncontrollably and very obnoxiously like it was unnecessary the way she was laughing. She said her husband told her that white people do that. I said that isn’t really fair and you can’t assume that all white people do that. It depends on each persons mentality. All she was doing was laughing uncontrollably the entire time. I felt really uncomfortable cause of the setting we were in at work in the hospital. I tried to let it go and said I don’t know what else to say to you, and I’m feeling awkward. I cut the feeding early and got up the from table. After that I did my rounds like normal, and she started with it again. “ I asked another white person the same thing” that is when I let her know, it’s very unnecessary to keep this going now and that her approach is unprofessional and that she wouldn’t like it if I said “you fillipinos do this or that” she said that im taking it the wrong way of course. That is bullshit to me because her approach would be different and there’s a time and place to ask these things. Her choice of words were also strange. I let her know I reported her to people and culture. She was mad of course and kept going around to different co workers, getting confirmation that she is not wrong.
