1st Heat
Our 1yo girl just finished her first heat. All was as expected…until it was not. Right after it was over she became lethargic, stopped eating, but will allow to be hand fed and will eat her usual amount. Drinks as usual, by herself no changes here. She will eat her treats by herself. Her private is still quite enlarged but not as it was during her heat. Three of the mammary glands are still enlarged. Others are normal. Nipples are fine. It has been two weeks now. There are no signs of infection. Temp is normal. Number one and two are normal. The vet said it was likely her hormones; to keep feeding her by hand and to bring her back in two weeks if no changes. We noticed a slight improvement last two days. More interest in things; enjoyed some sun today. She was more present if it makes sense. Is this just our girl, or is this something breed specific, for her to be like this after her heat? Thank you!
