Hi,
We are having a bit of an issue with nursery (Busy Bees) and we’d be interested to hear from any other parents at the same nursery to hear your opinions please.
Our daughter attends nursery 3 days per week currently. So we claim the 30 hours per week government funding which is spread across 50 weeks of the year, so it works out at 22.8 hours per week (2x full days) and the rest we pay full whack for.
There are 2 weeks of the year which are non-funded. One week is at Christmas and one week in April. We were under the impression that ALL parents paid full price on their nursery fees for these 2 weeks but it turns out they’re penalising parents who use their nursery more.
We have been advised by Busy Bees that for parents who‘s child uses their nursery for 30 hours or less (2 days or less) per week, they can provide 4 weeks notice that their child won’t be attending nursery for those 2 non-funded weeks and so the nursery will not charge them for those 2 weeks.
However, if you’re in a position like us where your child attends nursery more than 2 days per week (more than 30 hours per week) then you don’t have this option and you have to pay FULL fees on ALL hours for those 2 weeks whether your child attends or not.
i have complained that this seems to be penalising those parents who use the nursery more?! but they state it’s their policy.
does anyone else have experience with this? what are your views?
