Hi, 41-year-old here recently diagnosed with stage IIIc HGSOC. Starting chemo next week, planned for six 3-week cycles of carbo/taxol IV and intraperitoneal cisplatin. Would love to hear from anyone who’s done this protocol about what to expect and if there’s anything I should do to prepare. Trying to research online and doing things like: cutting my hair into a short pixie, gathering stuff like freezing mitts/booties, blankets, headphones etc.
This diagnosis was quite a surprise. I had relatively benign imaging (5-6 cm cyst which looked benign and actually turned out to be benign!, no other obvious evidence of disease on CT, US *AND* MRI, but I had an elevated CA125 that kept increasing. We expected for the surgery that it would be either benign or just a focal cancer. Was pretty surprised to wake up with a gigantic midline incision down most of my body and an IP port. Had mets all over my abdomen/pelvis apparently that just weren’t seen on any of the images. Fortunately the surgery was successful and my doctor says all the tumors were removed so I am trying to stay hopeful.
