Swirl marks and scratches on a touchless-only black Camry - how?
I have a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid SE Upgrade AWD in Midnight Black Metallic, picked it up early March, 2026. I’ve only ever used touchless car washes since day one - no brushes, no hand washing, nothing.
Despite that, I’m noticing swirl marks and scratches all over the paint. Some are tiny and only show up in direct sunlight, others are more visible, and a few look deeper. It’s not localized - it’s literally everywhere on the car, which is why I don’t think anyone scratched it manually. It doesn’t look intentional at all.
A few questions:
1. How do swirls and scratches even develop on a car that’s only seen touchless washes?
2. How do I fix or minimize what’s already there (especially the deeper ones)?
3. How do I stop them from spreading or getting worse?
Open to any advice on products, techniques, or protection (sealant, ceramic coating, PPF, etc.). Black paint is unforgiving and I want to take care of it properly. Thanks!
