Looking for new car but this is crazy?

Recently been looking into a new car current 2018 Kia Optima 2.4 xl at almost 200k km, got a baby on the way and want something reliable for the next handful of years with no issue as all the money is about to be for diapers, but also decent space as I work as an electrician. From packing in tool to baby and groceries, I find I almost have more space in this Optima then a Honda CRV. ( Minus the hatch back benefits )

I enjoy the interior of the Kia Optima very roomy compared to a civic, but these engine issues and other problems have been complete nonsense. Oil burning using Lucas oils and Valvoline restore anyway.

I started to look and the prices are crazy, I am in Canada so AWD is huge for winter time but 48k is wild ( 34k usd ). ( 45k cad/ 32,689usd without extra B's upgrades )

The reason for trying to go new is I will know everything that's happened to the car and maintenance as idk how much I trust an Uber driver to do his regular maintenance or most people for that matter.

I'm more of a sedan type guy or coupe but the coupe is out of the question, I don't want a truck as gas prices are going up and not being a fan of the loose steering on a truck just makes me feel like I'm on ice all the time.

Should I consider just getting the fwd which is a bit cheaper or just go used?

Side note mother is interested in babies safety too so she's willing to throw in a few bones

Thinking of selling my 2002 Camry. Am I asking too much?

I plan on selling my 2002 Camry it’s an LE with leather interior has 102,000 miles on the second owner. The first owner was my grandmother. The car is in perfect shape maintained by toyota products replaced radiator, starter, motor mounts, all OEM it’s a four-cylinder. I’m thinking of asking 6000 for it is that too high realistically I’d like to get around 5000 for it. We are in Connecticut and I know the car market especially the used car market is very high so I’m just getting a feel if you all think I’m asking too much for it. Also, if anyone is interested, please let me know. Thanks!

Camry shudder?

Hey guys I recently bought my first car 6k for 2014 Toyota Camry SE and 108k, but recently I noticed that it has a vibration only when shifting around 30mph and it’s starting to bug me. I’ve heard that flushing is usually bad and that drain and fill is best. I took it to AAMCO and they say the fluid has gotten darker. I want to make the best decision that won’t hurt my transmission, as I’m very weary because my last and very first car from my dad was a 2008 maxima, and it’s transmission died on me. Please give me a suggestion 🙏

How bad was my deal 😭

Today I was offered this 2026 Camry SE. 41k give or take out the door. went in to look at a used accord and the dealership tried to sell me on a new Camry. From seeing everyone’s deals seems like this one was absolutely insane. I did not take it.

Please let me know your thoughts price, location in Austin metro area.

Am I the only one who still prefers the 2024 Camry over the new redesign?

The new one looks cleaner inside, but something about the 8th gen still feels better to me. Curious what people who’ve owned/driven both think.

Looking to buy a new ‘26 LE with no extra options. Is this a good price? (NJ)

I’m buying my first new car, a 2026 Camry LE with no extra options. I got 2 quotes from dealers, one for $32,068.59 and the other for $33,891.35. I would rather buy from the latter dealer, so I’m going to try to get them to match the first offer.

Like I said, this is my first new car so I’m trying to figure out how all this works, especially negotiating. Is either quote a good price? And I’m planning on sending the below to try to negotiate the price. Is this a good thing to say? thank you for the advice!

>Hi [NAME],
I customized the quote the way we want the car (no optional extras), and the quote ended up being $33,891.35. I really want to buy from you, but I got a competing offer at $32,068.59 out the door. Can you match or beat that? We’ll be paying cash.
Thank you!

Redo of the last video.

Only makes this noise after a cold start, and last maybe 3 mins, then it’s gone. This is me putting the car into drive from neutral (can be from park too), and it also does this if reversing.

The car is a 2018 Camry SE (gas only), with 99.5k miles.

It sounds like the noise is coming from the drivers side of the vehicle. And it doesn’t matter if I let the car warm up all the way or not, as soon as I put it in drive for that first time after the cold start.. it makes the noise

Camry or Sonata

I’m in the market for either a sonata top end or the camry lumiere. I like the sonata since it has crazy tech and looks cool and modern but I hear it doesn’t last long and Camry on the other hand is awesome too but the interior is kinda boring to me. I had an accent back in UAE which had smooth steering and was decent ride. I’m looking for an upgrade . Open to suggestions!

Hello! I purchased a kill switch for my 2026 Camry SE that replaces the Starter relay is wired to a kill switch with remote key fob however when I opened the fuse box under the hood I dont see any fuses on the diagram labeled "Starter" or "St" I have added pics of both the fuse box and fuse box diagram.

Big Update for Car Enthusiasts: Real-Time OBD2 Analytics Like Engine Load Now on CarPlay

Hey everyone,
A lot of users from my previous CarPlay post requested OBD2 support, so after a lot of work, the feature is finally live in Speedometer: Driving Tracker.

You can now see and analyze real-time OBD2 vehicle data directly from CarPlay, iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch (via live activity).

One thing I personally found really interesting while testing was seeing how different driving styles affect engine behavior throughout an entire trip, not just live gauges while driving.

For example, things like:
• Engine Load
• RPM
• Throttle Position
• Coolant & Oil Temperature
• Fuel Usage
• Mass Air Flow
• Intake/Ambient Air Temperature
• And more

I added a sample trip summary screenshot below showing how the app now visualizes engine performance for a drive.

It even works with automatic trip recording through Shortcuts automations (when OBD2 device is connected), so trips can start recording automatically without manually opening the app.

One important note: every car exposes different OBD2 sensors, so some vehicles may not provide all data points shown in the screenshot.

The goal wasn’t just to make another OBD2 gauge app, but to make driving history and car data feel more visual, insightful, and actually enjoyable to revisit later.

Other existing features in the app:
• CarPlay trip tracking
• 3D route playback
• Speed-colored trip replay
• Video recording with speed + map overlays
• Fuel, maintenance, and expense tracking
• Vehicle-based analytics & comparisons
• iCloud sync across Apple devices
• Privacy-first experience (no ads/tracking/signups)

Now it’s becoming one of the most comprehensive driving tracker apps available on any platform, whether iOS or Android! (iOS version is live, Android version is in progress)

Would genuinely love feedback from fellow car enthusiasts on what data, analytics, or visualizations you’d like to see next.

Good price for maintenance plan?

I have a 2025 Camry and I’ve been getting regular oil changes every 5K miles either through the dealership for 5/15/25k and through another garage for 10/20k miles. When I went in to the dealership for my 25k oil change I saw this offer and it seems like a pretty decent deal, because the other garage I go to is a bit far and costs $40 for labor plus cost to bring my own oil and filter. Would love to hear others thoughts on if this is a good price

Been searching around and 35k + tax and fee is what I’m looking to pay but haven’t found. I want the best price possible, but is this unrealistic??

My first car

I love my 2010 Camry LE!! No dents (just a little tiny ding over the front right tire) or scratches. 170,000 km US car with full service history. Found the last owner’s number in my glove box and called him to ask why he sold it and if there was any issues with it. He said he had no space for it anymore traded this for newer car. Said it was his winter car and he babied it.

I paid around 8K CAD and had to buy new rims/ tires for it and some minor fixes which came to about ~9.5K CAD (6.9K USD). I’m just looking to see if I overpaid for this car. I don’t think so at all since it’s low-ish mileage and in almost perfect condition (ABS noise only when braking at super low speed) but someone said that I paid too much for this age and mileage lol.

Also what do you guys think of the colour tho 👀 I wasnt a fan of it but its kinda growing on me
