First Camry at 21 y/o! SoCal

Hey y'all

I just picked up my first new car, a brand-new Camry, and I couldn't be more excited! I barely turned 21 and am living in SoCal. I wanted to get your thoughts on the OTD I got.

I paid a total of $38,500 OTD, which includes the Premium Package. I put down $10K and financed the rest because the interest was so low, at a 1.99% interest rate. It was a no-brainer, and I'm planning to pay off the rest within a year.

I also got the car nano-ceramic tinted: 15% all around, 50% on the front windshield, and 70% on the panoramic roof, and have been loving it!

Toyota's safety features are awesome, y'all

Hope you never have to use them , but they saved me.

I was traveling down the main road in my area, speed limit or less. Saw a car at the intersection, stopped at the still sign. As I got very close, I saw them start to accelerate. In typical slow motion, I didn't have a lot of time to react, tried to swerve, but no time or room to do much. This 20 year old girl t-bones me directly on the driver side door. Spins me around 180 until I land in a ditch.

Here's where the safety features kick in. The exterior of the driver door is caved in but not the interior. Amazing engineering. Every air bag deployed except the steering wheel. The air bag cushioned the impact totally. As I am coming around, I hear the Toyota care contacting me, they know I am in an accident and wanting to know if they should call 911. They also immediately can my insurance. (Edit. I had a driving monitor from state farm, I have a feeling that device notified insurance, not Toyota care, but I know Toyota knew about the accident and did want to know if I needed assistance)

I walked out of the car with nothing but a sore shoulder. I'm 72, could have been so bad. I'm so impressed with the engineering and thought that went into this car. If you own a Camry, you should feel very good about your decision. Sorry for being so verbose, but want you to have another reason to love your car.

I mean….yeah, they’ve got problems. But….aesthetically….i mean, not bad if you ask me ehh? lol, older gen’s but probably our two favorite cars. The 09 zipping through 145,000, the 16 flying 52,000 almost. Love em both, keep em maintained! Got lucky the dude on the left doesn’t burn oil! Yeah, it did at one point for a fresh block in there and she was good ta go! Sorry I got bored, I had to post this see what yall thought🥀

$40K Camry and Toyota wasn't even able to add a active cooling charging pad

Honestly, I love my Toyota. It drives great, has a ton of features, and I really appreciate the reliability. But there's one thing that's bugging me. It’s disappointing to see that so many competitors in the same price range (or even less) are offering cooled charging pads for their wireless chargers, and yet Toyota still hasn't included this feature.

I do a lot of driving, and while I love using the wireless charger, it can get so damn hot, especially in the summer. Having that extra bit of cooling would make a noticeable difference. I'm a little surprised that Toyota hasn’t caught on to this trend since it feels like such a basic but useful feature at this point.

EDIT: idk why so many of you are getting upset, don't get me wrong, I love the Camry, but its unargueable that for $40K Toyota could have easily added an active cooling charger espically when competitors like Hyundai, Kia, and Honda (Touring only) are putting it in some of their mid-sized sedans as well

Meet Arthur

XLE 2026. I’m going to chrome delete and tint. Next year to get new wheels on him. Also may mod the back of it somehow. Not sure. Id love to find a way to get rid of the wireless photo charger plate. What a waste of space.
Everyone, meet “Arthur”. Nicknames: “Art” or “Artie.” Or “Archie”

Is this windshield crack repairable? Quoted $2000 for repair

I was driving on the freeway when a rock hit my windshield, leaving a crack near the bottom by the wipers. It’s less than 3 inches, and I can only see it from the outside. I wanted to get it fixed, so I went to Safelite, which quoted me $2000 for a repair. To make things more frustrating, my insurance with AAA refused to help, even though I have comprehensive coverage.

I then called my dealership, and the person on the phone said they use a third party for repairs that could do it for $75. They advised me to come in so they could assess whether it could be fixed and set up an appointment. However, when I went there and asked three different employees about it, they all said they didn’t know and that they don’t offer that service.

Now, I'm trying to figure out if this crack can be repaired or if I’ll need to replace the whole windshield. Does anyone have experience with this kind of situation? What do you think?

It's a 2026 Toyota Camry XSE

EDIT: I live in SoCal if that makes a difference

Does this Camry exist?

So my daughter is driving my 20 year old Accord. I’m driving a 10 year old Camry. She’s had a good job for a year and is looking to buy a new car. Her must haves are:

Apple Car Play (my 2016 doesn’t have this) for maps.

360 camera and backup camera
Safety sensors (backup, blind spot)
Not all touchscreen, tactical controls as well.
Heated seats
Phone integrated with steering wheel (change songs)

The Problem is you guys. After reading this group i don’t want the panoramic sun roof. We live in a hot state, it lets in heat and it’s a maintenance nightmare. No panoramic!

How much of this can we get without the damn roof?

Thank you.

Dashcam Beeping

I just got a 2025 Camry with 7k miles, and the dashcam just constantly beeps until I hit the power button on it. It does it every time I start the car, and even when I hit the power button it continues to flash. Anyone know why it does that?

Do you wish Toyota would bring back the physical Cruise Control Stalk?

I have a 2017 XSE that has the normal, physical, cruise control stalk on the steering wheel with push to turn on, up or down to adjust speed. Very simple to use and I know Toyota has used the same stalk on all their vehicles since my 1990 Camry. When I drive my wife’s 2025 Rav4, using the cruise control feels like it takes more brain power and attention off the road to figure out how it works and is frustrating compared to the tried and true stalk.

About the Gen 8 / XV70 Camry am i the only one who thinks the Grill of the Pre-Facelift is kinda growing on me more than the facelifted ones

I think its mostly the 2 chrome pieces at the edge of the Grill chrome makes the car look less modern, also the Bumper sits higher making the grill smaller

Is the multimedia upgrade worth it?

I'm considering getting a Camry soon, the SE. Do you think the bigger infotainment screen is worth spending the extra money?

Also, is the bigger screen available for purchase to upgrade later on?

2026 CAMRY SE w/ convenience package and LED light bulbs

So I got my Camry SE with free tints, all weather floor mats, lifetime powertrain warranty and stuff for pretty much 35k after all the fees, taxes, tag and title, all that good stuff. I went ahead and added the extended warranty and gap insurance which brought it up to 38k. I did get 0% interest for 60 months. Was this a solid deal, great deal, bad deal? I included the led bulb bc they wouldnt take it out no matter what so i paid 119 for a dang trunk bulb.... 600 dollars for convenience package though! Also came with 2 smart keys
