I feel a bit left out that everyone else around me is going to the UK, except me
Hi all,
So I'm in DP2 and finished with a 44 predicted, although I'm probably going to get something closer to a ~40 on my actual exams. The thing is, all of the universities I'm applying to are in the EU (english programs only, so no delft/tum/etc...) because tuition is just so much cheaper. My high school is super expensive, and the only reason I attend is because my dad's work agreed to pay for all of my high school education so he just picked the most expensive international school in the city.
The problem is, even though I could get accepted into Oxford and so on, there's no way my parents will finance my undergraduate studies in the UK, and there's no way that they qualify for financial aid either (international student)
It feels really demoralizing that all of my classmates are talking about high rankings and competitive admissions requirements (they obviously have no financial restriction, while the schools I'm applying to are the exact opposite. I feel like I'm just wasting the time I spent getting good grades, but at the same time I can't do anything about it. Whenever I tell my friends that I'm applying to schools in the EU they always say that they're not good, etc... Even though I know it's not true it still really sucks.
Is anyone else in the same predicament?
Edit: Thanks guys :) it’s nice to know I’m not the only one
