Jamie and Nate
I think most of the relationships in Ted Lasso get some sort of resolution, some sort of apology, forgiveness and acceptance - growth. The one that never really seemed to get this type of play is the relationship between Jamie and Nate.
But on a recent rewatch I noticed that during the S3 E12 episode with the Kangaroo Court they fine Jamie for falling asleep during meditation. Jamie initially puts a large stack of cash in the smiling box, then when no one is looking he tells Nate to wait wait, pulls out his wallet and adds a smaller stack of bills and put his finger to his mouth telling Nate to not tell. Nate is then fined $5000 for missing every single training and game.
It seems to me that the first stack of cash, which was a significant fold, was the $5000 for Nate's punishment. The team must have known the punishment was coming. The team had talked about bringing Nate back and reached out in an earlier episode. I believe they talked about the punishment at that time. Jamie then chose to pay Nate's fine out of what I believe to be Jamie's apology for his unkind treatment of Nate in season 1, which I don't believe he is ever shown apologizing for. Nate is never shown putting the cash into the box. So I think it shows that Jamie and Nate are finally on the same page and appreciate, respect and care about one another.
I think this is a significant moment in contrast to season 2 where Nate is elevated in stature but not seen as the Big Dog or even necessarily equal to the rest of the team in social standing. He then acts as a bully as if he believed bullying Colin would elevate his standing. But it took a lot of time for Nate to learn that standing in Richmond is based on kindness and elevation of others rather than berating other to seem larger.
