Underwhelmed by two characters finally getting together
>!I just finished chapter 57 in book 9. It's where Caleb fights his mom and then declares his love for Seth. I was so underwhelmed by this. Like the earlier books I really liked the development between them. I loved the tension, the angst, the doubt of ruining friendship. It got so long it was infuriating but I was also heavily invested. This whole book I've been eager to read more about them. But we got SO LITTLE. Where was Caleb's reflection on his sexuality? Where were his doubts about ruining the friendship? We didn't get any fun sneaking around stuff. The fighting his mom had almost no build up (?) I was just so displeased. Like really you torture me with this slow burn friends to lovers for 3 books and in the book they get together I get some crumbs, no tension and then suddenly a love declaration? Perhaps it's just me, but I was literally so excited for their romance this book and it just didn't do it for me. I'm just venting and hoping I'm not alone in my disappointment.!<
