I had to ask my 16 yr old daughter what the scam was, as I couldn't figure it out while I was watching them. Three boys will approach a (usually older) person and say something to them. The leader has his phone in his hand, but he doesn't appear to be recording video. One of the other kids is wearing what appear to be Meta glasses. Their 'victim' takes their own phone out of their pocket, there's a brief conversation and the boys walk away laughing, and their target stands there looking a combination of angry and confused.

Apparently they've recorded the sound Apple Pay makes and when you take your phone out they play it, say something to the effect of "Thanks for the hundred bucks" and walk away. I think they're trying to get angry reactions to post online. I saw at Kelowna Walmart, both in the store and in the parking lot, and then they crossed the street and went into IKEA. They're probably going to get their asses kicked eventually but they seem to be preying on harmless looking middle aged people.
