Martial arts that is friendly to beginner women in their 50s?

As the title says. I’m a woman in my 50s, and I used to do some tae kwon do back in my 30s and liked it a lot. I’ve considered getting back into some form of martial arts for many years now, in part as a way to stay fit, but since every website is full of images of men or young children, it’s really difficult to figure out where to start.

Has anyone got any suggestions? I’m less a fan of grappling ever since I blew out my knee in jiu jitsu throwing a significantly larger man over my shoulder, but I’m also open to all suggestions if it’s a friendly, welcoming space for someone like me. I live in Glenmore and tend to look close to home, but that’s not a strict requirement.

TIA!

Mini weddings?

Hey there!

Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for all inclusive "mini weddings" in the greater Okanagan area? We'd like to have a few people there (like 25 total). Kinda looking for a destination style.. maybe at a winery or resort, but open to suggestions.

Thank you!

Looking for some good moving cleaners.

Moving out of my small suite soon and looking for a reputable cleaner to do a deep clean of the space. Pretty small area so shouldn't take too long.

Adult swim lessons (private)

Hi, I'm looking for any recs of someone who teaches private adult swim lessons. Most of the places I've looked into are full for the summer or don't offer private lessons for adults. I'm open to anything. If someone has a person they recommend with any lifeguard certification or swim teaching experience please let me know!

When to put out Pink/Grey bins

Do they get emptied along with blue bins? Must be missing obvious info on this as I can't find when they are supposed to be put out.

What was bear creek road before?

Visiting Kelowna and ended up driving up bear creek road. I had very bad anxiety and it felt sooo eerie! Was it camping land before? Lots of campfire ban signs and no trespassing signs but couldn’t make out what it was supposed to be with all the burnt trees:(

I searched the road up after and saw in the news that someone was found deceased in their car the other day there. Maybe that’s where my anxiety came from !

Informal 25km trail run this Saturday from Okanagan Mountain Park to Commando Bay. Not a race, no fees.

Sweat Culture is organizing an informal trail run this Saturday May 23rd meeting at 6AM and starting at 6:30.

The route is 25km through Okanagan Mountain Park to Commando Bay and back. No organized support, self-supported the whole way. Run it, hike it, or mix both (no pace requirement).

Come prepared with hydration, calories, bear spray, GPS, first aid, proper trail gear. Wildlife and rough terrain are real considerations on this route.

Goal is to finish together and swim the bay. Bring a camp stove and food for after. If there's interest we might even make it a recurring thing.

Drop a comment if you're coming so people know to look for you.

Is it just me or is the new pathway in City Park kinda too narrow?

Is it just me or is the new pathway in City Park kinda too narrow?

I get that the space was probably limited because of the water and the trees, but honestly I feel like they could’ve made the bike lanes a bit smaller and maybe reduced the bench/light area a little too. I think that would’ve made the actual walking path way more comfortable.

I was there yesterday and whenever a group of 3-4 people walked past another group the same size, there barely felt like enough room.

Honestly the bench area looks uncomfortable too because people are constantly squeezing past super close to you.

And this is only the beginning of tourist season, when the park still isn’t THAT busy yet.

I’m attaching a photo from the park's opening day (no politics, please), but you can clearly see that with just five people standing across the pathway, I highly doubt a sixth person could even fit. What do you guys think?

Hey all! I have a decently big collection of modern pokemon cards that I’m looking to sell. I was wondering if there are any places in Kelowna you recommend that buy cards at a good rate?
Also any places in Kelowna that have a lot of pokemon singles? Thanks

Laptop overheating. Where to bring it in?

Hey there, my little brother’s laptop is overheating and causing unrepairable BSODS. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good places that could help fix it. I brought it into a place on google a few months ago and they Repasted it and said it was good to go but since then it’s been crashing the OS and running at 96 Celsius downloading games… I’d like to keep the cost as low as possible if possible.

Patio Furniture?

Hey all, does anybody have any advice or recommendations on where to get patio furniture? We've checked Home Depot, Rona, Canadian Tire, Costco, Home Hardware. We haven't found any we find super comfortable.

We like the wicker style. Looking for a 3-seat couch, 2 arm chairs, and a table.

If anyone has any other spots we should check out we'd really appreciate it!
