The City of Brampton’s ADAPT program (Adults Developing and Participating Together, 21+) is underfunded, and it’s affecting both participants and staff.
Workers are underpaid for high-responsibility roles, and when attendance is lower, scheduled staff are sometimes sent home because the city won’t pay for their full shifts. That creates instability for workers and disrupts consistency for participants.
These are essential services, not optional programs. Yet Mayor Patrick Brown continues to promote inclusion while programs like ADAPT lack proper funding, which makes that approach feel performative.
If accessibility is a real priority, these programs need stable funding, fair wages, and respect for the people doing this work.
Why tf transit fares getting so high, even for youth? Youth fares are now adult prices compared to a couple of years ago, with no real accommodation.
If fares are going to stay this high, the service should at least match. Buses are often 20 minutes early or 20 minutes late, when a 5-minute window is the only reasonable expectation.
Cleanliness is also an issue. Seats are frequently dirty and stop request buttons are unhygienic. At a minimum, buses should be maintained properly.
Reporting these issues doesn’t seem to lead to any meaningful changes either. ughh ts pmo
