Salmon Fishing Lake Superior in August

Apologies for the first post, didn't read the rules.

I'm planning a trip for my father and I to head up to Lake Superior ( Think Lake superior provincial park / Pukaskwa national park area - willing to go up to thunder bay too) for the last two weeks of August (He leaves the country first week of september unfortunately so He will miss the main salmon run). I was hoping to put him onto a salmon or two up there but my salmon experience is solely based on Lake Huron / Lake Ontario tributaries. We have the gear - Multiple float rods, waders, spinning rods etc. However, we are both incredibly uninformed about Lake superior salmon fishing. I know its weather / water-temp / rain dependent whether they'll be up the creek around that time or not, but I figured we'd have a chance at catching one or two throwing hardware at creek mouths / into the lake. I was hoping that anyone familiar with the area might be willing to drop a couple suggestions on tackle / bait to prep in advance and whether getting a salmon in August might be a pipe dream (Though I have had consistant luck getting salmon in lake O tribs in early august so maybe hope might not be lost). We will be camping, we have no issues hiking a good distance to better areas. We appreciate any advice.
