Caught some good ones on my last trip, here is the fattest one measuring in at 28.75" but weighing 11.44lb, just a crazy build. Here is the full Youtube video of the trip: https://youtu.be/J_0Rbu17gv4
25’ Crestliner pontoon that I threw some cannon electric downriggers and garmin electronics on and boom she’s a fishing vessel. Me and my buddy were running a 4 rod spread in this picture, going to get some rod holders for the sides so we can run 6!
Hi Everyone,
I'm going to be largely fishing on Lake Ontario, taking the family out cruising, beaching the boat at various parks etc. I can't decide between the Lund 1875 Crossover w/ 175 Merc and Legend 19 XT w/ 150 Merc. Any recommendations? I like that the Legend is made in Canada, but I've heard Lunds are more well made. Also I like that the Lund can take a 175. I'm also considering a Princecraft Sport 188 with the Merc 175. The 200 V8 is tempting, but then I can't fit a kicker motor.
Got my first boat this year. I’ve been listening on channel 68 but all I ever hear are sailboats asking what guest slip they can dock at.
Spent a couple of weeks canoeing and fishing around and in Wabakimi Provincial Park, hooked into a few nice ones!
This is my first lure, made 15 years ago. It’s rough, simple and very far from what I make today. But I’ve made it. And that is the most important part.
A lot of people message me and show me their lures. And very often they say things like “I know it’s not great” or “I’m just starting” almost like they feel a little embarrassed.
You really don’t have to be.
Nobody starts with perfect paint, great action or clean finishes. The beginning is supposed to look like the beginning.
Your first attempt doesn’t have to be good.
It just has to exist.
I hope seeing my first steps reminds someone that there’s nothing to be ashamed of.
Make the first one. Learn from it. Make the next one better.
That’s how it starts.
Hello everyone and carp anglers of Ontario!
Do you guys know of any places in Ontario that offer a weekend cabin experience on a carp lake that you can fish?
Thanks!😀
My friends and I are embarking on a 7 day canoe camping trip, between Leano Lake and Mexican Hat Lake, in Woodland Caribou Provincial Park and I’m hoping to try out some fishing while we are here. I’ve heard walleye, pike, lake trout and sometimes bass can be caught here.
Sadly I’ve got pretty limited experience, and all I’ve really done is fish on Lake of the Woods, summer fishing from a boat with 1/2 oz lead jigs and live minnows for walleye (what I learned from my family - they only ever do the same thing). I’m now trying to take myself out and explore more places and expand my fishing knowledge/experience, so if anyone has advice on shore vs canoe fishing, considerations for rods/reels, tackle (jigs vs spinners vs something else) I’d love to hear it! Thanks!
Hi there! I'm staying on the York River East of Bancroft in a cabin from today until Sunday and am looking for some fishing friends. I'm 38, chill dude and an absolute beginner but am very interested in catching some fish over the next couple of days.
Looking to make some friends and learn a thing or two. It has been an extremely frustrating hobby to get into alone in the GTA so I think I need to see other people in action who know what they're doing.
Happy to buy the beer/pizza or throw some cash out there for the guidance. Send a message if you want to know more about me or whatever.
I have a 6' 6" Daiwa medium light and a small tackle box.
I know this is a hot spot for salmon and trout but I'm local to the area and trying to find casual spots for summer fishing some bass/pike and anything else I can find.
Wondering if anybody has fished this creek through the summer and if so had any success? Not talking about the lake Ontario side of the creek, more thinking northern end where it's more shaded and windy.
Hey guys,
I am wanting to put together a dedicated pike trolling rod.
basically for when I am heading out to my SMB fishing spots.
My plan is to troll it 80% of the time and cast maybe 20% of the time.
Ideally would like to stick with a spinning rod setup as that's just what I am already use to.
I have some bigger lures that I inherited - 3/4 oz up to 2 oz lures.
Most of the rods I am seeing at Canadian Tire and Sail are max rated for 3/4 oz Lures.
Would I still be able to troll and cast lures up to 2 oz with no issues as far as lure action is concerned?
The other thought is how fatiguing it might be?
Any recommendations on a nice setup that could easily troll and cast bigger lures?
Ideally looking to purchase from Canadian Tire or Sail
Thank you
Apologies for the first post, didn't read the rules.
I'm planning a trip for my father and I to head up to Lake Superior ( Think Lake superior provincial park / Pukaskwa national park area - willing to go up to thunder bay too) for the last two weeks of August (He leaves the country first week of september unfortunately so He will miss the main salmon run). I was hoping to put him onto a salmon or two up there but my salmon experience is solely based on Lake Huron / Lake Ontario tributaries. We have the gear - Multiple float rods, waders, spinning rods etc. However, we are both incredibly uninformed about Lake superior salmon fishing. I know its weather / water-temp / rain dependent whether they'll be up the creek around that time or not, but I figured we'd have a chance at catching one or two throwing hardware at creek mouths / into the lake. I was hoping that anyone familiar with the area might be willing to drop a couple suggestions on tackle / bait to prep in advance and whether getting a salmon in August might be a pipe dream (Though I have had consistant luck getting salmon in lake O tribs in early august so maybe hope might not be lost). We will be camping, we have no issues hiking a good distance to better areas. We appreciate any advice.
Anyone have any experience with purchasing a boat and trailer with no ownership?
How much of a pain is it to get plates for the trailer? It’s currently plated but the owner has lost the paperwork as it’s sat in a barn for 15 years.
I live in Zone 16. I know the season is about to open for smallies and largemouths, but I'd like to know, for future reference, how to avoid targeting these when they're out of season. I've caught one smallmouth on a live worm while fishing for perch and another on a swimming lure while fishing for pike, both from fishing the Thames from the riverbank. As far as I know, the diets of large bass overlap with pretty much everything other than carp. How do I avoid catching these, especially during spawning season? Is the idea to just not fish in rivers that have these species when they're out of season, or to only use baitballs for carp?
This is a bay of a much larger lake. The mouth from point to the other-side is 700 meters & from the top to the bottom of the middle bay is 1.4km. 700x1400 meters.
The deepest points of this lake go only 60 feet. Is it possible to catch whitefish in this bay based on depth & structures? So far I have only caught jackfish, walleyes, perch, sculpin. I have also found Burbot in the bellies of bigger jackfish (what you call pikes
