New fit for today’s run.

New fit for today’s run.

New Norda 055 for today’s run, the Cormac hoody in the new jade green and the trusty pace breaker shorts.

So far the runners feel great and about to head out for my run so I’m looking forward to it.

Do everything reel?

Looking for a new reel. Looking for something I can throw some 30lb braid on with a 15 lb leader and catch pretty much anything.

Currently using a medium rod rated for 15lb line but I can always change out the rod later.

Was thinking bass, pike, salmon and trout. Pretty much anything I can catch in Ontario.

My research led me to the shimano Stradic which sounds like a great reel. Initially I was like I can just buy the 5000 reel and be done with it. But wondering if the 3000 or a 4K would be a better bet?

People in hazmat suits?

Totally random. Just was going over the bloor bridge on the ttc and noticed 2 people in hazmat suits and masks digging around the bushes.

It was right by the old tracks next to the highway. Totally weird and makes me wonder what’s going on.

Stores in Toronto.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend some stores near downtown Toronto.

I’ve been picking up my stuff from Canadian tire but figured walking into a real store would be nice.

I know there’s drift outfitters but it’s mostly fly fishing. Bass pro is a little far and I can’t come up with anything else.

Mostly just looking for places to browse when I’m on lunch.

Saved this from the garbage.

Walking home and spotted this poking out of a box of junk. It was garbage day and I guess they just put all the stuff to the curb.

So far looks to function well, I’ll grease it up and see if can do the job.

Line change day.

Picked up some braid and some new flouro today.

Never used braid before and my store only had this. Any good or should I get something else?

Planning on putting a 8-10lbs mono leader on it. The flouro is for a different rod that I was gonna try straight flouro on.

Today’s lovely shave.

Been lazy lately but pulled out one of my favourite blades to lop off a few weeks worth of a beard.

Love the dr Harris soaps but I don’t love this scent. lol at this point I’m just trying to get through my soaps before the year 3000

Acme lures

Pic for more visibility.

Looking at the acme Cleo and kastmaster. Wondering what everyone’s experience is with them.

I see them at my local Canadian tire and have been interested in trying them out.

A lot of rain today.

So much rain in a short time. Street is starting to become a swimming pool.

Is this rigged ok?

My little ones are learning to fish and have rigged up these Berkeley minnows like this.

I think it looks ok and swims fine but it’s been years since I’ve gone fishing.

Would this work? It’s a 4inch minnow.

Unwin ave lookout.

Did some early fishing on the lookout on Unwin ave. Didn’t catch anything while I was there but there was lots of interest in my bait by all the little fish.

Also saw this monster carp, lol it was nibbling the weeds off of my lure. If only it nibbled near the hook. It’s obviously hard to see in the pic but it was pretty huge.

Adventures with my buddy.

It was a warm day today so we decided to hike through the parks here and make our way out to the beach.

It was a short hike but I had a lot of the food and blankets for the picnic.

Not much in the way of actual gear but it was nice hauling everything with a supportive bag.

Boru Toronto

Randomly came across this place yesterday.

Was walking along Adelaide and saw this Japanese restaurant and was really interested in trying it.

Basically only serves a steak or hamburger patty but it was really good.

Unlimited soup and rice with lots of sauces and spices to make it however you want.

I ended up getting the wagyu steak, my friends got the patty and we tried the duck liver as well.

Soup was good, lots of veggies in it and it was tasty. Rice is plain white rice, but the ability to spice it any way was nice.

The steak was really good, soft and juicy. The patty that I tried was yummy as well and my friends all enjoyed it as well.

In the end I really enjoyed my meal. I attached the menu so you can see what else they offer.
They also had this hand little info card that told you exactly what everything was.

And yes before anyone asks it’s expensive. But I’d still go back and get it again.

BV one vs others

Howdy all.

Looking to purchase my first beer vault after borrowing my buddies.

I was tempted to get the BV one because I like the idea of it being able to shrink if I’m going for a shorter time.

My question is how does it stand up to the standard vaults? Is it weaker or more prone to damage? Or will it stand up just as fine

Found rock in garden

Found this rock in my garden in Toronto. Rock was maybe half a foot down and was found randomly while my little guy was digging for fun.

Not magnetic
Shiny and deep black.

Edges are pretty sharp but the sides are smooth.

Would be interested to know what it is.

Norda 001 upgrade.

I’ve had my Norda 001 for a while now. Will need to replace them soon and wondering what people think of the 001a? Anyone able to tell me now the upgrade feels.

How to roll the top

I just finished my first real trip with my Kakwa 55 (Rae lakes Loop). I've never had a pack with a roll top before. I hate to start a conversation that will likely become highly contentious but....

Should I roll the top towards the front ("Front-Endian") or towards the back ("Back-Endian"). I hope I didn't embarrass myself on the trail this week by rolling mine the wrong way. Maybe Dan can give us the answer - and put a label on future packs with an array and "Roll this way".
