Their steaks are fairly top notch, seriously. Great value too.

Perfect lunch

Apple Fritters from SanRemo Bakery

Still one the best donuts in the city, in my opinion!

EDIT: Yes we bought the entire tray (2 dozen fritters). Every Friday multiple cycling clubs have Fritter Friday rides that end at SanRemo. Our group has 30 people, and 20 showed up for coffee and fritters.

Late night food near Ace Hotel?

My husband and I are staying at the Ace Hotel and are seeing a Blue Jays game tonight. We’re planning to get a late dinner after the game somewhere between the Roger’s Center and Ace Hotel area and wanted to see what recommendations this great subreddit may have.

(PS: It’s our first time in Toronto and we love it so far! We got in yesterday and saw a movie at the Revue and had a delicious dinner at Dil Se afterword)

Best bao zi in Toronto?

Looking for this particular style bao with beef or pork filling.

Soft pillowy bun with a nice meaty filling - juicy filling is a plus. Any recommendations?

Has anyone tried their viral Light Cafe?

During 2021 (or covid era) they were selling these pizza boxes filled with egg, salad, fries, croissants and mini pancakes. These went soooo viral I would see it all the time. I remember wanting to try it but wait line was too long.

Just wanted to know is it still popular? Was it worth the hype?

Citrusy birthday cake?

Hello, everyone! One of my kids requested a citrusy cake for their birthday next week - not a pie or tart, but cake. Do you have any recommendations, ideally downtown or north up to Eglinton / Lawrence? I am looking for a cake for about 10-12 people. My kid cares more about the fresh taste than the fancy look. Thank you for any help!

The Rosebud, King East

This place is great. I've had thier winter menu and now thier spring menu. I've loved every minute of it. The menu is small, the food is spectacularly. The service is excellent. No bottle of wine is over $100, thier wines are lovely. The cocktails are great. This is a real restaurant! I know the ownership/kitchen changed hands in October, I just want to say, if you are looking for a great dining experience, look no further!

Bernhardt

I'm visiting Toronto with a 6 month old baby. Was looking for places to eat and Bernhardts seemed good. I usually go out to nicer places but always get the first reservation for 5 pm. It looks pretty small and cozy but will it ruin the vibe they have in there or are they relatively kid friendly?

2026 Toronto Region Michelin Guide to release Sept. 22

Any thoughts on changes compared to last year?

Hexagon and Aburi Hana almost surely will lose their stars since they've lost their chefs and have been temporarily closed for months, unless they get their act together soon.

Favourite Novelty Meal?

Not exactly the right word but I'm thinking of something fun for my birthday and want to treat my friends to a fun meal. Things like the Mandarin Buffet or Fishermans lobster. Something nostalgic or entertaining or silly. Help!

Is there a good place for fried whitebait or smelt in Toronto?

I've made it at home using smelt and it was so great, but looking for a place in the city to have it at.

Lots of talk about the great food we have in Toronto. Question is, what DON'T we have? What's missing? What do wish we had here?

Piggybacking on the post earlier today about where to get a classic NYC bodega-style Bacon, Egg and Cheese on a hard roll. Doesn't really exist here and I wish it did.

Wondering what else you think is missing?

Things I'm pining for:

  1. Greasy Spoons. Not expensive diners styled like greasy spoons, just cheap and greasy spots for eggs and sandwiches.

  2. Montreal Smoked Meat. We've got Centre Street and Sumilicious. I want more.

  3. Unrestricted Food Carts. Why only hotdogs? WHY???????????

Li Hing Mui Powder Help! Where?

Dear foodies of Toronto, i’ve never actually had this and something in me feels like it’s already my new favourite thing. Where can I find it locally? Hey Scarborough! Any chance someone knows? I feel like this as part of a summer cocktail is going to be the best.

specialty food/desserts to send to my friend for their birthday (in 3 days)

hi, im not in toronto but would like to order something for a friend. looking for indie/home-based recs. my friend is an amazing baker (makes donuts, ice cream, cakes, etc.) so i don't know, maybe something they are unlikely to make themselves? (e.g. if it's equipment intensive or if ur a baker pls weigh in on what you'd like to receive hahah)

i would say they are not very fancy per se but just like sophisticated flavours and interesting/creative combinations - bonus if they are inspired by flavours from different types of cuisine. thanks!

After years finally tried badiali - it was alright

I love fresca, grew up going there when they first opened as Massimos.

Other ppl here said badiali is comparable to frescas. Having tried two slices from badiali today, I agree.

Badialis crust is a bit more bubbly/slightly thicker compared to fresca. *maybe comparable isn't a good word to use. They're similar in the price point but that's about it.

Both are popular. If I couldn't get fresca, I'd take badiali over north Brooklyn or maker pizza.

I found my pepperoni slice had too much tomato sauce. I prefer less but that's just preference.

Fresca slices are $5 or $5.75 with a card. Love the slices and the garlic oil but the crust is too thin. Need 2 slices to be full. Love the margarita slice. They used to have deluxe but I feel like it's just pepperoni or margarita slices available.

Badiali has a vsriety of slices. Pepperoni and cheese being the standard and others. I was curious about the burata slice but it had way too much sauce for me.

Badiali slices are 5.75 and up. Place is more welcoming for sit down. There was no line when I was there today at 430. This was at the new markham st location. It's one block south of bloor.

They have longer hours than frescas.

Overall, I'm glad I finally got to try it after all these years but I'll stick with frescas, surly indifferent service if you're served by the owner ifykyk but a good slice.
