Chain came off
After 12 years riding fixed and brakeless, today my chain came off while sprinting for the first time ever.
Safe to say brakes are going back on asap (and a pair of underwear have been thrown out)

Title says it all i am so happy i was on my way home on my lunch break from work
I love my bike
At least where I'm from road bikes, gravel bikes, cruisers, hybrids everything will have a water bottle holder. But fixed gear riders seem to never have any. Why is that? I know I'm going from just what I've seen but every fixie rider I've seen doesn't have a water bottle with them.
Need advice on what bike I should get as a bigger rider getting into cycling/fixed gear stuff.
I’m 185cm and around 130kg, so durability and wheel strength matter a lot for me. I’m mainly looking for something fun, reliable and cool looking rather than full-on racing.
The bikes I’ve been considering are:
I know the BMC is a completely different category, but it came up locally for cheap and got me thinking. Originally I was leaning more toward fixed gear because I really like the simplicity and aesthetics.
The GT Pulse especially caught my attention because of the H+Son / Surly wheel setup and the overall look.
Main concerns:
Would you guys go:
And if fixed gear, which of those would you trust most for a heavier rider?
Any advice appreciated because I’m still pretty new to this side of cycling.
Hey, just got my hands on a 2005 Giant Track Team frameset. From the listing photos I was pretty sure the fork had a front brake mount.
Just received it and there seems to be something under the paint, could be a genuine brake hole or ?. I've seen several builds on Pedalroom with front brakes on the same model, so I'm assuming it's drilled but I can't tell for sure without going through the paint.
Anyone familiar with this?
probably been 8+ years ago since I last shared pics of my bikes on here! I’m 31 now and just finished building 3 bikes I admired growing up. Would’ve been nice to have shredded these things when I was younger. Now I get to admire and ride them once in a while 😬
Broakland STClassic, Gt Gtb, Makino NJS
Soon much to do and work on. First step is to make my individual plans for each bikes and fix. Go from there.
Thought I'd share since it made me feel less stupid seeing people talk about this on here (it was 7 years ago though). Could of been worse apparently people have lost some fingertips because of this.
Maybe detach your chain before cleaning it ? I will
Update: my finger swelled up overnight, I went to see a doctor who told me I have a whitlow or something like that. 50 euros down and 10 days of antibiotics.
Nothing too bad though, feeling lucky after hearing your stories. thanks for the tips too !
Hello dear fixed peeps
I started to document the fixed gear riders of Budapest, Hungary in a photo series, trying to do one every day, check it out if you find it interesting✌🏼check out the riders with their bikes, if you could have guessed that person to the bikes

I will paint this frame
Option 1 all green
Option 2 green, fork and the button on the back purple leaving details in chrome
Option 3 same as pinion 2 but the chrome paint in black
i'd been thirsting over this bike in my local bike shop for over a year now. having become disillusioned with my specialized roubaix, i traded it in. never seen mavic 631 track cranks! unfortunately the front fork has no brake mount and i live in a pretty hilly area, so i'm gonna have to get an aftermarket fork that'll let me have some stopping power that's not my legs. i'm also gonna need a bigger cog, and maybe a shorter stem >.> can't wait to ride this thing to death!
Sorry for making you witness my clapped chain in the last post,
Need a new chainring next, do most fit universally? Will I need new cranks?
Also need to extract a frame bottle mount bolt somehow.
Love this colorway and a fun bike to build up
It is a lil rusty i may say but it holds a story to it
And yes i will be switching those 88mil wheels to 60mil
Soecs:
88mil carbon wheels both laced to novatech with a 14t cog in the rear(will be switching to 60’s ltr in the week)
Intro 7 cranks with a 50t stone 🗿 chainring and shimano ultegra pedals
Replica zipp seatpost 🙃
Fizik volta r3 (yes, my combination is indeed interesting )
Decathlon cockpit 😳 (will change soon, looking to get a Thomson stem and a deda bar as i used those bfr and enjoyed them)
Next weekend we have a bunch of fixed fun going down in Durango, Colorado. Let us know if you’re in the hood. Ridin, racin…. Partaaay.
Shiny ✨
cutted the steering and changed the stem to 130mm and dropbars to 36cm
