Soooo this week I (20, F) saw a listing on instagram for a free week at a kickboxing gym I swiped up and spontaneously applied.. I usually struggle to step out of my comfort zone, so this is a big step for me. The owner of the gym reached out to me to schedule my first session. I’m kind of excited now but still really nervous, the class starts in an hour and a half and I feel like my nerves are so high!! I usually strength train x5 a week and also run x2 a week so I have some sort of training base but I also have ZERO experience on any personal defense and I have no clue how to throw a punch so I’m worried I will embarrass myself 😬!!! I’ll probably update after if yall are interested in that type of thing, thanks for listening to my ted talk :)
Update: Class ended, and I loved it!!! It was primarily a conditioning class which I found to be super fun because it made me suffer in the best way lol. I’m so glad I tried this now that I’ve been running for a while and have a decent cardio base because those drills had me huffing and puffing!!! There were so many little victories such as when we were doing speed drills coach had us do pushups and stuff, and even though I just recently got my pushups I didn’t miss a single one of them, and It seemed like I got onto my feel a lot faster than a lot of the other athletes (can you tell I’m really competitive haha) it was really fun maybe a little too much information when we went from jabs to cross to hook. I felt a little perplexed, and they did have me spar a little my partner knew I was new so we did really light hits. I don’t think it’s in the budget to sign up, especially since I’d only have Saturdays to train since I’m working two jobs at the moment. I’m definitely going to be looking into some weekend group conditioning though because I live the group dynamics!! Also my arms are pretty sore, and those walking lunges for three rounds really hit the day after leg day 😂
Just a lil vent session 😂 I went to the salon today and decided to get some gel x nails because I’ve been seeing them a lot lately and im about to go see my long distance boyfriend next week and wanted to feel cute (I don’t usually get my nails done and if I do I do them at home)
I asked my nail tech for short/ medium oval nails with a simple French tip and provided a picture. She told me almond would look a lot better since I have chubby fingers. I trusted the process but I reminded her that I needed them pretty short since I workout everyday. She proceeded to apply quite long extensions and I once again told her I need them short so she trimmed a little off and when I asked for her to trim more off she didnt.. but told me since I want them shorter she will charge me. It was $77 before tip so still very reasonable but I just didn’t feel heard. I thanked her and paid, but b-lined it to Sally’s to pick up a file and reshape them into ovals and quite a bit shorter. I like them more now but I feel like i should’ve done them at home, feeling like I kinda wasted money especially since I have some big life changes coming up (boyfriend wants to propose and since he’s in the military I’d be moving cross the state, and want to make a apartment a home) I kinda feel guilty now, thanks for sticking around for my Ted Talk 😂
