Hi guys I’m really struggling to make a decision between the University of Washington and UCSD for biology (I’m premed).

I have heard that UCSD may be stronger for bio because it’s a top research school, however I’ve also heard that it’s super competitive among pre meds (ie hard to actually get research as an undergrad and really difficult weeder classes). UDub has a pretty strong bio program and has sent people to top med schools as well.

I toured both campuses and loved the UDub campus (UCSD isn’t really my vibe), but I feel like that shouldn’t be a top factor going into this decision lol.

I understand that UCSD has been called socially dead, but talking to some students there I think that if you put yourself out there (as goes with any school) you can have a good social life.

It’s been hard weighing the pros and cons of both schools. Is UCSD just on a completely different level with bio and pre med, and is it as difficult as I’ve heard it is? One of my main focuses is preparation for med school, and while I definitely want rigor, I need a good GPA to get in. I’m pretty stressed with decision day coming up and am really scared I’m going to regret my decision 😭😭.

It would be super helpful to hear some other opinions on these schools! Any feedback would be very much appreciated 🥹.
